The view from the balcony

In even the most special of places bad things happen

Be forewarned - I am writing in my own voice and not in Marley's.

Marley has died. It is a fact of our life and there are daily reminders all around us that she has passed on. Her voice, her personality, her spirit, are silent. I cannot write as Marley.

This is evidently an inappropriate act on Catster. If I choose to participate in some groups at Catster under Marley's name, I'm supposed to force myself to 'talk' for her. I can't. I never will. She is not here - she cannot speak.

And to find that now, after her passing, there is an expectation that I should speak in her voice in order to participate here - that if I want to offer support to others or continue communicating with some I have met over the past year I have to do so as Marley - well, it's cruel and it's wicked.

My family has suffered enough. We won't be violated this way as well.

So to those reading this appalled that it was written by a person and not a cat - you should have stopped at the first line.

And to our friends - I don't wish to be any part of something that would so actively harm those already suffering. Iwill occasionally check on you and if you send us messages we will respond. But I find myself incapable of spending much time on this site.

It's such a betrayal. This was the one place where I thought I was safe to mourn and a place I thought it was possible to find people who understood. And it's not.

We are thinking of you always... and I personally find it fine to talk yourself and not have your cat talk.

But remember, her spirit will always live on- it is only her physical body that is deceased.

Much love,

Sometimes I have trouble speaking from the bridge, but when I do, it is to share the experience I had while LIVING on earth. Support for other cats who may be sick or celebrating something special can be given by an angel too. Helpful advice can be given by angels based on what their life was before passing to the bridge. I'm sorry you find it cruel and wicked, and I hope you will consider that it is a way to keep your angel cat's memories close at hand and to share the life they had with you. Just because you don't feel comfortable talking for your angel kitty doesn't mean they can't still be in groups whether you chose to participate in the groups or not.

I don't understand! Not allowed in groups because you don't use 'cat' talk'? I'm not aware of one group that I'm in where we don't talk as ourselves, or in 'cat talk' if we choose to ...but it's not demanded. I am so sorry that you were treated this way. Your love and connection with precious Marley is an obvious one, and the recent loss of her and your heartbreak is more than understandable. *hugs* Perhaps you should check out some other groups!

There are parents who write every day in diaries, like a continuous Tale of Devotion. We love reading them.

Dear Marley's Mom, My old WS doesn't know how she will react when I go to the bridge, and if she will continue my diary or not. Our family's bridge kitties were not active posters and didn't keep diaries. We have enjoyed reading your diary whether Marley is posting or you as his parent. We can't imagine anyone being appalled at either choice. We hope you will continue.
Supportive hugs,
Taz and his old Wicked Stepmother, Pam

Open mouth, insert paw. We know Marley is a girl Angel and said "his" parent.

Marley, we love you lots and you have helped my mum and I enormously over the last few weeks. I hope I continue to hear your voice - or your mum's, I don't mind which. xxx

Whichever voice you use, we would love to hear from you! Some groups have human voice and some have kitty voice. We want to hear from you!
