Arrival Story:
After moving out of my grandmother's house and into my on apt., I went to the ASPCA in NY looking for a kitten. It was not kitten season, but they had just brought in 3 kittens. I could only take 2, Samantha and her sister (now deceased) Gabby. The ASPCA assured us that being the only kitten left, the 3rd kitty would be snapped up within an hour. I still felt bad, though. I named her Samantha after a cat I had seen at a shelter the year before, when I couldn't have a cat.

Bio:
Samantha looks like a young 'un, but she is 17 and has kidney disease. I give her sub-cutaneous fluids every day. She handles this daily ritual like a trouper. We've been giving fluids for over a year now.

Waiting for my test results

Results are in: everything looks stable

Mom got the results from our vet. I guess everything has stabilized from the kidney point of view. The only thing that looked a little worse were by blood values that indicated anemia. I'm not anemic yet, but we have to keep n eye on it.

Meanwhile, the vet wants Mom to keep me on the 100 ccs of Sub-qs every day, instead of moving back to every other day.

Bummer. Big bummer for me. But I guess the overall news that the numbers stabilized is good news.

Waiting for my test results

I had to go to the vet on Tuesday. My LEAST favorite thing in the world.

I've had kidney problems for over a year and a half now and am getting sub-q fluids. Everything was going well, and I was down to getting them every other day, until I went for a 6-month check up in July. My numbers were slightly worse, so the vet (who tries to be nice, but is NEVER going to be my buddy!) made my Mom go to giving fluids EVERY day.

Somehow when it's every other day, it's a lot easier.

Anyway, they took my blood, and now my mom is waiting for the vet to call with the results.

We're certainly both hoping things look better again, and that we can go back to fluids EOD.
