 Quick Bio:
 Coloration: Blue-Silver

Likes: sleeping on the back of the couch, sleeping on top of the entertainment center...sleeping in general. Mooching food is a specialty

Pet-Peeves: When Bittle just won't quit...

Favorite Toy: plastic bag...but only when supervised....also, Sylvan will do almost anything for cat grass or catnip

Favorite Nap Spot: back of the couch, up on the top of the entertainment center

Favorite Food: Sylvan is a true former stray and loves pizza, beer and anything meat. He only gets his "junk food" in small quantities, but he will cry for chicken wings and bacon. If you're eating, he would like it.

Skills: We're pretty convinced that he's the world biggest mooch.

Dwells:
indoors

Arrival Story: Sylvan chose my husband and I when we were still living in the University district in the city. My husband had broken his foot and was unable to do anything other than sit still. He would sit on the porch and a little grey kitten would wander onto the porch and onto his lap to keep him company. Sylvan would sit by the open porch window and meow until someone would come outside to pet him. One day, I opened the door and he walked and to the house. He promptly jumped up on the dining room table and fell asleep. He's stayed with us ever since. He did become less snuggly once he was in the house. We're pretty sure his friendliness was all a ploy to get a good home. He will sleep on the bed and sit next to you on the couch, but he rarely sits on a lap like he did before we brought him in the house.

Bio: Sylvan is a term that means "grey". Since Sylvan is a grey cat, it's our way of being clever. We took the word Sylvan from the "Sylvan elves" of JRR Tolkien fame. Sylvan is our true "alpha" male. He keeps the other cats in line and everyone knows the pecking order because of him. He is a gentle giant and plays very well with the smaller cats in the house.
Sylvan has gotten out of the house twice and for us, this is very traumatic. None of our cats go outside as we live on a street that is much too busy for curious cats. While my husband and I lived in the city, where we found Sylvan, he escaped through an open basement window. We only knew because we were sitting in the living room and our roommate looked to the window and said "That cat looks a lot like Sylvan." When we realized it was him we opened the door and her ran back in.
We found the culprit window just as Loki was about to make his exit as well. It had been snowing and you could follow Sylvan's pawprints from the open basement window directly back to the porch window. Good thing it was snowing or else we might have lost him. It goes to show that cats, especially strays, know when they have a good thing....lucky for us!

That kitten is SOOOOOO annoying!
I try to sleep, she attacks me. I try to eat, she walks in front of me. I try to play, she steals my mousy toy. Is there no end to this torment?
Yesterday I was sleeping on the floor in the dining room. I should have known better, because the floor is pretty much as high up as she can get. Well, regardless, I was sleeping, very peacefully, I might add, and she came tearing through the house and pounced on me! The nerve!
So, I thought that I'd beat her at her own game. I waited until she was sleeping on the floor and I pounced on her! You'd think that I was killing her! She started yowling, and I got yelled at by my girl and boy people. The boy person actually came running in the room. So I got off her and I tried to bite her leg as she tried to run away, but I missed, making me look really dumb. What will the other cats think?
I don't remember Ajax or Oliver being this annoying. Bittle was though. I despaired of him ever leaving me alone. Oh well, I guess she'll outgrown it too. I don't know that I have the patience to wait.

As you know, I am the cat in charge of keeping the colony in its place. I keep all the cats in line so they all know where they are on the pecking order of things. Every time a new male cat comes in, I make sure he knows that I am the master of the house, not him.
Well, my girl person found a new kitten and it is a girl, so I am not sure what to do. The new kitten doesn't seem afraid or intimidated by me at all and doesn't listen when I try to keep her in line. She walked right on top of me when I was laying down!
I guess I will just ignore her. I mean, she's pretty small and can't do any harm. When she gets a little bigger, I will put her in her place.....

Back near Halloween my girl person brought a new cat into the house and he was loud and wouldn't stop following me around. It was pretty annoying since everyone knows that I am the master napper in the house. He seemed ok, but then he wouldn't leave me alone. He would follow me around, biting my legs and swiping at me. At first I was angry because I thought that maybe he was trying to challenge me for the "King of the House" which no cat had dared before. Well, it turns out that he just wanted to play! So now we chase each other around and hide from each other and I feel like a kitten again! I love playing with Strider and I am so happy that my girl person brought him in the house!
