October's Party
By: George Cooper

October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came—
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.

The Chestnuts came in yellow,
The Oaks in crimson dressed;
The lovely Misses Maple
In scarlet looked their best;
All balanced to their partners,
And gaily fluttered by;
The sight was like a rainbow
New fallen from the sky.

Then, in the rustic hollow,
At hide-and-seek they played,
The party closed at sundown,
And everybody stayed.
Professor Wind played louder;
They flew along the ground;
And then the party ended
In jolly "hands around."

Today Donald and I picked up your balloon to send and one for Sam too. You both brought so much into our lives and never will you be forgotten.
We watched your balloons as they floated upwards, with rain falling on our faces. We miss you both Josh and Sam.

Your Pets In Heaven

by Ken D. Conover

To have loved and then said farewell, is better than to have never loved at all.
For all of the times that you have stooped and touched my head, fed me my favorite treat and returned the love that I so unconditionally gave to you.
For the care that you gave to me so unselfishly.
For all of these things I am grateful and thankful.

I ask that you not grieve for the loss, but rejoice in the fact that we lived, loved and touched each others lives. My life was fuller because you were there, not as a master/owner, but as my FRIEND.

Today I am as I was in my youth. The grass is always green, butterflies flit among the flowers and the Sun shines gently down upon all of God's creatures.
I can run, jump, play and do all of the things that I did in my youth. There is no sickness, no aching joints and no regrets and no aging.

We await the arrival of our lifelong companions and know that togetherness is forever.
You live in our hearts as we do in yours. Companions such as you are so rare and unique.
Don't hold the love that you have within yourself. Give it to another like me and then I will live forever. For love never really dies, and you are loved and missed as surely as we are.

Your Pets In Heaven

Today Josh I remembered spending our last hour together in the vet's waiting area. Your Donald, Mary Beth and I knew it was time after Doc Dave told us that your kidneys were shutting down. You were already at Doc Dave's and we held you and talked to you and said our goodbyes. We still miss you and look forward to being with you again.

Rainbow Bridge Day

Josh and Sam,
What joy you brought into our lives. You were our first kittens, for our family. I always had kittens and cats around, but Dad never did. So we had only had woofs.
Then Little Sheba was stolen and Buster never recovered from that (it was said that the dog catcher during that time was stealing and selling animals. Our white shepherd pup disappeared and Buster was "found" by him over 5 miles away. I called three times to see if he had picked him up, he said no, I only found him after going to the pound myself. Buster died from a kennel sickness a couple of weeks later.) I was not ready for another dog, but Grandma had these cute and cuddly kittens.
At first we were only suppose to have you Josh, because Aunt Debi wanted a black cat. Then she looked at you Sam, you had the spot of white on you chest, you were not black enough, so you came home with Mary Beth.
Josh and Sam you were both the very best friends that Donald and Mary Beth could have ever had growing up. It was a common sight to see you both in their arms, being lugged around. Or pulled around in the wagon.
You were best buddies yourselves. The wrestling matches you would get into. Rolling after each others tails, in the yard. You were pure delight to watch play.

Remember the day that really huge bird flew through (Heron)? How I wish again that our memories could be put on video. There was this bird, large wings, flying over the back yard. I was watching it out the dining room window, then you Josh came from one side of the yard, and you Sam from the other and you both leaped into the air, in sync!! Only you collided in the air, with the bird probably laughing as it went on it's way. MOL. That bird or it's young still returns to the creek area every year. In the spring, we should be seeing it soon.

Today is a day of happy thoughts, not final goodbyes. Josh and Sam our love is sent to you everyday. Today so much love will be going to the Bridge, look for your balloons too.

Crossing Anniversary

On January 5th, I have been gone from Mom's arms now for 8 years. It is really hard to believe. I was only 9 when Mom, Donald and Mary Beth sat with me in the Vet's office, telling me goodbye.
They still talk about my "tail" or lack of one. How I would wag the little nub I was born with.
I would have hated the snow right now. Mom always had to make paths for me so I could go to the creek to drink water--that was my favorite, I preferred it over water in a bowl.
Mom found out the hard way, that I did not like snow. My brother Sam went right into it. She looked out and saw me just standing, between the house and the creek. I was meowing. I was lifting my paw and shaking it.
She thought about what was going on, I kept meowing, so she walked through the snow, making a path and I followed. So to the creek we went, then she made more paths for me to be able to play.
I want to thank my friends who sent messages and rosettes. You are very Dear to me and my mom.

(P.S. if anyone received a thank you from me and it said Socks, just chalk it up to my mom and know that it came from my heart.)

My Christmas Wish For You

My Christmas wish for you, my friend
Is not a simple one
For I wish you hope and joy and peace
Days filled with warmth and sun

I wish you love and friendship too
Throughout the coming year
Lots of laughter and happiness
To fill your world with cheer

May you count your blessings, one by one
And when totaled by the lot
May you find all you've been given
To be more than what you sought

May your journeys be short, your burdens light
May your spirit never grow old
May all your clouds have silver linings
And your rainbows pots of gold

I wish this all and so much more
May all your dreams come true
May you have a Merry Christmas friend
And a happy New Year, too ..

Happy Thanksgiving

We want to wish our Dear Friends a Very Happy Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Delights

On Thanksgiving Day we’re thankful for
Our blessings all year through,
For family we dearly love,
For good friends, old and new.
For sun to light and warm our days,
For stars that glow at night,
For trees of green and skies of blue,
And puffy clouds of white.
We’re grateful for our eyes that see
The beauty all around,
For arms to hug, and legs to walk,
And ears to hear each sound.
The list of all we’re grateful for
Would fill a great big book;
Our thankful hearts find new delights
Everywhere we look!

What is a Cat?

What Is A Cat

Gentle eyes
that see so much,
paws that have
the quiet touch.

Purrs to signal
"all is well"
and show more love
than words can tell.

Graceful movements
touched with pride,
a calming presence
by our side.

A friendship
that will last and grow,
small wonder
why we love them so.

This was posted by Simon on the Kit Kat Club. I was a very good friend to my boy Donald and mommie says that this sounds like it was written for me.

Socks is here now at the bridge.

We welcomed Socks here to the bridge, its been several days. He is having so much fun and I am getting to know him. I was gone several years before he came to my family. He was Donald's kitty just like I was. Mommie said goodbye to us in pretty much the same way. She knew we were going to be better than we were at the time. I was just an older cat and was sick (so they say, I don't remember) but now I'm just as healthy as these young ones who arrive here everyday. Mommie is afraid some days that she doesn't remember me as well as she use to. Then she starts thinking and little memories just keep popping up. She remembers how I would be across the road on top of the field there and Sam (my litter bro) was behind the house on top of the field there. They would say that we each needed space. We had fun looking at each other. Sam would bully me sometimes, so at times like that, I was very happy. Well, I'm going to go and find Sam and see what we can get into. He's very nice to me n0w. Maybe we can pull Socks away from some of his new friends and go and find Lilly. She's probably at the turtle pond, if not flying over mommie, she does that a lot too. xoxoxo Josh

Another memory

Mommie feels sad that she does not give us all the same amount of attention here on catster. I know that she feels sad when she is writing for Lilly, Simba or I, because she misses us dearly.

The other day she was doing dishes and was remembering when Samson, my bro and I were still young. We were outside cats and always were until each of us became ill, then we were inside. It was that neither mommie nor dad had ever had indoor pets when they were growing up and had not done that themselves (not yet).

One day mommie was looking out the dining room windows and a heron (a large crane looking bird) flew through the yard. This was very, very unusual. Even now there is only one a year, usually spring and/or fall. A couple of times there has been a young one hatched, but usually only a single heron in our creek.

Well back to what happened this day, when the bird flew over the yard, Sam and I both went running and jumping for it. You say, "so what's new, you're a cat." Okay, but I came from the left and Sam came from the right and guess what??? We collided in the air as the bird safely went on it's way. Mommie wishes that there was a way to put memories onto video. She said she would love to let people see us that day. She laughed and laughed and still does when she tells someone about it.

I guess today mommie's not too sad while she is writing. She has a smile on her face. Really I'm glad that we did not get that bird, with it being so rare in our area and all. It really would not have been right for us to harm it. Goodnite all and goodnite mommie. xoxo :) Josh
