Likes: She loves Kujo and thinks she is her mommy.
Pet-Peeves: Having the other cats pick on her.
Favorite Toy: Hasn't shown a preference.
Favorite Nap Spot: Wherever Kujo is....
Favorite Food: Whatever is in front of her.
Skills: Just walking.... she can fall over easily and has depth perception issues.
Arrival Story: I first spotted Cassidy at PetSmart. She did not get much attention by people when I was there. She was always trying to get attention from people and wanted to be petted through the bars. It seemed no one was interested in her so I filled out a form and ended up bringing her home with me.
Bio: Cassidy was evidently abused in her early life. She was 8 months old when we got her so I know nothing about her early life. She and her mom and other siblings were abandoned and she wound up in a foster home. All the others were adopted but Cassidy, even her mom to whom Cassidy was very attached. When we got her home she was terrified and it took a while for her to fit into our home. She has some visual and motor problems as well as having her esophagus collapse causing her to have to cough. She doesn't seem to know she had any problems, however, and is just one of us now. But she is still timid when people come over and, even after all these years with us, doesn't like for us to pick her up. She becomes very frightened when we pick her up... but, oh how she loves to be petted. Cassidy is very clumsy and has depth perception problems... rather amusing to watch... but saddens me at the same time.
Wow. I am one of today's DDP honorees. Thank you Catster and Diary Gal. I am thrilled. Also honored today as a DDP are the sweet angel Hazel Lucy and adorable Ashlynne. Concats to them and to the others honored today.
I have had so many problems accessing Catster today so I won't make many comments.
A big THANK YOU to Tundra and furmily for my beautiful DDP picture. I have not yet tried to move it to my first picture because of the problems with Catster and pictures that do not appear, even now as I am writing. I do hope to get it all fixed tomorrow and will comment about how I am doing, also.
Thanks to those who helped me celebrate my diary honor. I will mention you tomorrow.
Could our furiends please say prayers for Cassidy? I had to take her to the vet this morning after she peed outside of her litter box on something not even related to bathroom issues. She has never, ever done this before. Add this to the fact she has not been eating very well and I can tell she has been losing weight, it was time to go in for a checkup to see what on earth is going on with her.
Cassidy had a dental with some removals last June (2013) and has not really eaten well ever since that ordeal but I had no clue how much weight she was losing. Her weight was slightly over 6 pounds today. Last June, she weighed 8.4 pounds, which was down from her normal mid 9's to 10 pounds. We attributed the weight loss then (in June 2013) to her bad teeth. Today to my shock, they discovered that all her back teeth are bad. Dr. Montgerard said that may be part of her eating problem.
They kept her to get urine and are going forward with blood work to see if something is going on with something else.
Cassidy is our first inside cat to turn 15 (her birthday is March 18). She is one of the sweetest, most gentle cats you could meet... like her big brother Hooch. Unlike Hooch, Cassidy is extremely shy and panics when picked up. She curls into a ball... even after all these years with us. She must have had a serious problem in her first 9 months of life before she joined our family and she has never gotten over whatever happened. She loves us and our friends and comes up to be petted and rubbed but no picking up.
Her best buddie was Kujo. Cassidy went into a major depression after Kujo went to the Bridge. They were inseparable. Cassidy's world was changed forever when Kujo left it.
When I left her at the vet's, she was pitifully and loudly meowing in the back room. She is beyond scared, as usual for Cassidy. I left the vet with tears in my eyes.
Please say some prayers for Cassidy that it is not serious and can be controlled with meds or a dental for more teeth removal and she will have more healthy time with us.
I was furry surprised and shocked to see that I am a DDP honoree again today. Two of my furiends are also DDP honorees today. It is so nice to share this honor with Daenerys and her brofur Teebo. What a lovely day to be selected. The weather will be warm and sunny and I will have patches of sun in which to lay.
Thank you to Catster and the Diary Gal for picking me. Do you think they are picking me because I am getting old? MOL!!!
