October's Party

October's Party
By: George Cooper

October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came—
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.

The Chestnuts came in yellow,
The Oaks in crimson dressed;
The lovely Misses Maple
In scarlet looked their best;
All balanced to their partners,
And gaily fluttered by;
The sight was like a rainbow
New fallen from the sky.

Then, in the rustic hollow,
At hide-and-seek they played,
The party closed at sundown,
And everybody stayed.
Professor Wind played louder;
They flew along the ground;
And then the party ended
In jolly "hands around."

Remembering My Soxie

I was thinking again about you Soxie. Yesterday was 3 years ago that I brought you home from the vets and it was for the last time. I thought it was the beginning of many more years for you to be with us; but that was not to be my boy.

Then the next day, Friday, you had an awful seizure. You were so frightened and I was scared. The vet kept you and told me to call him back. I remember holding you in my arms, knowing it would be the last time on that Saturday.

Yesterday there were a lot of butterflies on the deck. I am still looking for your special one. That one that is different from the others. I did get a butterfly kiss on the 4th. I know that one was from you. I was walking along the road and several purple butterflies flew up, one brushed my face. :)

I was just now outside thinking of that last evening together with you, as you and I watched that huge moth. I love you my Soxie, with every teardrop.

3 Years

Dear Socks,
I was sitting here remembering how we spent the last evening before you were injured. We watched the moth, a large one, while you sat on your trashcan. It is hard to believe that it was 3 years ago tonight.
I still miss you Soxie.
Please sprinkle angel dust over the family tomorrow. It is the anniversary of when my little sister Libby died in '71. I know it will be hard for Grandma and Grandpa, with Aunt Debi leaving us this year. As they remember Libby, who was almost 4, they will be thinking about Debi too.
I will be looking for your butterfly and sending you lots of love my Sweet Boy.

Donald and I released your balloon late this afternoon. It was just beginning to rain. It was as if the clouds shared a tear with us as we once again watched your balloon travel upwards. Just wish I could hold you one more time; but one day we will be together again.

Love and miss you Soxie!!

Your Mom

Rainbow Bridge Day

Dear Socks,
Little guy we still miss you so much. Everyday, every time I walk past your trash can, I still see you there, the last night we were our on the deck. So handsome and sweet.
Memories of you pop up often, just this morning our newbie Meeko was going after some already chewed "food," and of course that was what you would do. If somefur was sick the battle cry was "where's Socks?" Someone would block you while I cleaned it up.

You always knew when you had a vet appointment, you would disappear on me. That one day you just went under the deck, looking at me, knowing I could not reach you that far in. How many times did we have to reschedule? So finally we would catch you early and put you in your carrier.

Today is beautiful and I will be looking for a butterfly. One from you. I will be sending our love to you too.

You are always with me.

My Christmas Wish For You

My Christmas wish for you, my friend
Is not a simple one
For I wish you hope and joy and peace
Days filled with warmth and sun

I wish you love and friendship too
Throughout the coming year
Lots of laughter and happiness
To fill your world with cheer

May you count your blessings, one by one
And when totaled by the lot
May you find all you've been given
To be more than what you sought

May your journeys be short, your burdens light
May your spirit never grow old
May all your clouds have silver linings
And your rainbows pots of gold

I wish this all and so much more
May all your dreams come true
May you have a Merry Christmas friend
And a happy New Year, too ..

Happy Thanksgiving

We want to wish our Dear Friends a Very Happy Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Delights

On Thanksgiving Day we’re thankful for
Our blessings all year through,
For family we dearly love,
For good friends, old and new.
For sun to light and warm our days,
For stars that glow at night,
For trees of green and skies of blue,
And puffy clouds of white.
We’re grateful for our eyes that see
The beauty all around,
For arms to hug, and legs to walk,
And ears to hear each sound.
The list of all we’re grateful for
Would fill a great big book;
Our thankful hearts find new delights
Everywhere we look!

First Year at the Bridge

I am only now able to update my diary about my first anniversary. Mom had a rough week, still crying at times, but doing better. So many friends thought of us and sent kind words and gifts to help. Mom and I truly thank each one who took time to remember us.

I even found out that a kind fur named Kistmet (who is older and wiser than me) will show me how to ride a shooting star, so that I can give my mom a kiss in her hair at nite. I look forward to trying that out, so far I have been sending butterfly kisses to her. Now I can learn to ride a shooting star and give her a kiss myself. I'm wondering how do I come back after riding that star down. Perhaps it makes a loop and I just keep holding on until I am back home. (I will have to ask Kistmet.) For now, the bridge is my home, until mom comes and we finish this journey together.

Dear Socks,
I have spent today remembering our last evening together. I will always be greatful for those memories. You trying to play with the others, trying to explore and snoring in my arms. I saw a beautiful blue butterfly, by your trash can. The purrfect color for how I feel.
Love and miss you,

Thanks to Beloved Angel Amelia and her mom

We want to thank Amelia's Mom Martha for a lovely necklace that she made for my mom. It has a cat and butterflies. She had read my diary entries about butterflies and she was visited by her own butterflies. The necklace is absolutely gorgeous and the thoughfulness behind it will never be forgotten. God Bless.
