It's after me!!!

I'm sure all of you furs out there have chased those annoying little red bugs, right? I've played with one on and off since my kittenhood and it has always just shown up every couple of days. Then for some reason it disappeared for a couple of months.

Anyway, back to the little red bug. It's just a small little thing, but it moves SO fast. I've never been able to catch it, even when I pouce right where it was. Well these little red bugs have always been just that - little.

Yesterday something amazing happened, though. It grew! It was huge! That would have been ok, I guess. But then it came after me! It started getting closer. And when it was almost to me, I did what any kitteh would do - I released the spring-loaded mechanisms in my legs and flew backwards. You humans know what I mean - where we come across something that startles us and we just fly upwards and backwards, usually ending in a roar of laughter from you humans. Meowmy laughed like crazy, of course. The weird thing is, the bug was moving all over the place when she was laughing.

I've gotten used to the new size now and chase it all over the house, but I figured I would warn all you furs out there in case your little red bug disappears for a while. It might be growing or something, so be purrpared!

Huminions are so below me.

Meowmy just loves to pet me. I do allow it from time to time, but I'm not the cuddly little fluffball I was when I was a kitten. Although my lineage is not fully known, I do have a strking resemblance to a chartreaux. And I certainly act the part, too. Meowmy was reading the breed standard and saw that they are aloof and independant. Well that sure does sound like me. I like my space, that' for sure. When I do allow the huminion to pet me, I prefer being above her. My favorite place is the top of the drinks which are on top of the fridge. Meowmy can still reach me there, but she has to really stretch and so it keeps our petting sessions short (the way I like it.) If I want to get some uninterrupted z's, then I go even higher to the top of the cabinets. Meowmy can't reach me there, except with a step stool. And I know that if she is goign to all that to reach me, then she is probably trying to catch me to take me to the v-e-t. I take off running if she does that! Sometimes I visit her on the bed, but it is usually a little crowded for my liking.

Now you see why I say they are so below me. Hmm... Maybe I should get off of my high horse? Naaahhh.. MOL!

Balls!!!

It's been a while since I wrote a diary entry, so I may have already commented on this before. Being that I love paper balls sooo much, I figure I'll write about them again. So here it is... I love paper balls. Whenever meowmy gets some mail, she is very good to me. Actually.. it's not that she is good to me... it's that I have her well trained. When I was just a few weeks old, I started playing fetch with paper balls. Meowmy even got video of one of my first fetches and posted it here.

I have a problem with that video, though. If you listen closely, she says someting twice - "Good boy." Good BOY?? I am NOT a boy. I do have to forgive her, though. She had only peeked rather quickly while I was soaking wet in a dark car lit only by the dome light. Not to mention, kittens can be a bit tricky to figure out. She figured it out soon enough. Anyway... back to the balls. (The paper ones.)

So when meowmy opens the mail, I come running in and watch. I get really excited. I crouch at the doorway to her room and mew pitifully. Then I hear the noise I love... crumpling paper. I flatten my ears and get as flat as I can. Then the thing I love most - her arm going up and away the ball goes! I bolt after it with my long nails making that funny noise as they dig too far and snag in the carpet. Then I bat the ball around a bit before bringing it back.

It's lots of fun. You furballs out there should go try it!
