Arrival Story:
I received an URGENT email from a customer. Their was a cat hoarder that was evicted and she had all the cats in a UHaul and at an extended stay hotel. They needed foster homes for 60 cats. Since it was around the corner from me I called to see what help I could offer. I ended up with a set of three 4 month old littermates, two 6 month old littermates and one 4 year old male cat and all were sick with what I was told was an upper respiratory virus. Little did I know the extent of their illness. We did fall in love with them all and decided to keep them.

Well I think her name tells the story of what her personality is like. When I first got her and the others she was such a brat. I needed to give her medicine and give her eye drops but she was so strong for being so little and she would scratch and fight until I had to let her go. Even wrapped in a towel she would escape. What a brat! She actually has improved with time and is more used to being handled by humans. I'm sure she was a DaBrat from lack of contact with humans! DaBrat was the sickest of the three littermate kittens. Her sister, China doll has gone blind from dry FIP and then to the Bridge, and her brother Sparky suddenly developed wet FIP and also made the trip to the Bridge. We had bloodwork done on DaBrat and it shows she has had some FIP activity. We're hoping her immune system will fight off the mutation to FIP, but we'll recheck her blood in 6 months. We are purraying that she will not develop this fatal disease and she'll be with us for many years. Hey, it's 2011 and the update is DaBrat is still with me and what a little love! She still doesn't like to be picked up and is afraid of strangers so will climb into the leather recliner like she did when she was just a furbaby, but she loves me. If I don't come upstairs to spend time with her she hunts me down. It's "Brat" time and she lets me know it. I really love her and she's my healthy Brat now!
