Arrival Story:
nemo was born into foster care at the sacramento spca. he was adopted as a kitten by a single man, who returned him about 6 months later because he was moving and the new landlord didn't allow pets. nemo was at the shelter for a couple of months before being adopted by a woman in a house with four cats, the week before thanksgiving, 2007. she returned him a week later. nemo remained at the shelter until i came along, on december 27, 2007. i had walked the entire spca looking at cats, not necessarily looking FOR a cat. i was on my way out the door when i saw nemo. he was sleeping in a cat colony and i turned to look at him over my shoulder, and he caught me out of the corner of his eye. we started playing 'peek-a-boo' from the side of the window, an attendant walked by and asked if i would like to meet him. we went into a 'get acquainted room' where he started rubbing on my arms and face. i was sold! i got him home, where i was told that because of his history, he'd likely have trouble adjusting to his new home. i slowly opened the box to check on him, he bolted from the box, walked right up to my sofa, and laid on his back as if to say, "i am home." we have been inseparable ever since.
