Arrival Story:
Back in 1999, a former classmate from college called me asking me to come see a beautiful white short haired cat she said she found cowering in the bushes next door to her apartment when her (Princess's) former family apparently moved away, leaving her there, terrified and alone. When I came to see her, she was cornered in my classmate's restroom by her little black cat (whom I later found another home for also). I came near her, and she jumped into my arms when I held them out to her. She was one of four feline family members when my home burned almost alway the way down in Jannuary of 2001-the smoke spread do quickly, I didn't even make it out halfway dressed, banging on my sister's windown to get her out. While I waited for my sister (who had not believed me so she left by the front door), I saw Princess fleeing out the front door, which I had left open. That early morning, the firefighters pulled the limp bodies of two of my feline family members out--Missy and Charmin, although Charmin's brother escaped (his name was Rudy). I still wished I had acted more repsonsibly for my best friends and babies and looked for them as I was calling 911, but I didn't. I didn't mind much losing my last bit of money in my wallet, or even the meds, but I had hoped fervently that all of them had escaped somehow. Anyway, while our house was being rebuilt completely for over 9 months, Princess and Rudy stayed with some family friends, who later literally kicked them both out, and their house was near a major highway and military installation. I worried for my two cat family who had escaped from the flames (as well as a third roving "stray" tom cat whom I didn't want to become trapped in the ruins, and we planned to adopt him, so I took him there, too (before my other two were so terribly treated, that as), but he was smart, and took off before I could bring find him in my car. Anyway, Rudy became wild (I would, too), even though I came to visit them almost daily (though it hurt me to see them outside all the time, it also made me feel better at the same time). Rudy disappeared, and I heard he was later killed by some coyotes nearby or that he had accepted the offer of another home, which was better than I could find for him and Princess during that period of time. After our house was rebuilt, the first thing I did, after everything was moved in, was bring Princess back home-she immediately started exploring the new layout. She is at least probably ten years old now, and having to put up with four other felines (the youngest is a beatiful black/silverish kitten I found abandoned near my house recently, and am looking for a loving and wonderful home for her, if anyone is interested!), which she does by hiding from me, and sleeping with my mom almost nightly.

Bio:
She is sweet, loving, but at her age, not willing to put up with my attitude and with the other felines more than half the time, but I love her and believe her to be part of a miracle after surviving a fire and a period spent in a what turned out to be a cruel household (four months) and then put outside for over 5 months. She was spayed when she found me, so I do not know if she ever had kittens, but she doesn't care for the kitten's (named Maggie) antics, and shows her shock whenever Maggie taps me on my shoulder, and when I turn to see what's up, she is already gobbling up my food, as well as all the cat food she can snipe (plus her own).
