Arrival Story:
Captain is the resident cat at the Athens Area Humane Society's Spay & Neuter Center. He first came to the AAHS shelter years ago, and was adopted but soon returned. After long investigation to understand his litterbox problems, the vet determined Captain had food allergies that can really upset his stomach. Lucky for the folks at AAHS, Captain befriended the original office cat and ended up sticking around for longer than intended... he came to the shelter originally in 2000, and has been "Office Manager" since he was returned in July of 2001. Captain now resides at AAHS' Athens Regional Spay & Neuter Center.

Bio:
Captain got his name when he was first found - a newly purchased boat arrived in the US from the far east, and when the cover was removed, out came this feline, after what can only have been a global voyage!

Hi everyone, especially all you Athenian felines out there!

Well a new year is here and I realized that I am turning 10 this year. How the time flies! So in the traditional reassessment of my life, I've made a few decisions, one of which brought me here. I've resolved to go on a diet (15 pounds? how did that happen?!), get more exercise, nap more (gotta rest up for the exercise) and be better about staying in touch with friends.

So that's where Catster comes in, and this diary. I have so many pals! It used to be just the cats and small critters adopted from the organization where I work, the Athens Area Humane Society, but now that I'm operating out of our Spay & Neuter Center, I'm working with more and more cats, and now even dogs (they're not *all* bad).

I hope to keep everyone up to date on what we're up to here at AAHS, and I'd love to meet new kitties, especially AAHS alumni!

Well the lady who I share an office with is going to leave soon, so I had better close. She's bad about turning off the lights, and I can't reach the switch to turn them back on.

Mew,
Captain
