Arrival Story: We had a phone call to say a pregnant cat was living wild on a caravan park. We went to collect her and I named her Queenie. When I took her for her health check the vet said she had been kicked around and was worried her kittens would not survive. Queenie was very frightened and would lash out and growl at me - only because she had been abused. I finally won her trust and she had 4 beautiful kittens - 2 black & white, 2 grey & white. They were found very good homes (in pairs). Queenie stayed with me as no-one wanted a cat they couldn't cuddle or stroke. In the years I have had her she has turned into a very loving lap cat but she has never forgotten how she had to forage for food and is very greedy and would steal food if she got a chance. She is much loved and quite a character.

Thankyou to all my friends who made my Birthday such a special day!
I opted for chicken for my birthday supper and it was just scrummy. Then mum gave me a kiss on the top of my head and do you know what I did? I smacked her!! I only like affection when I ask for it and wish she'd get it into her head!!!! She should know by now after all these years! MOL. It was alright though she just laughed and said "You're one on your own Queenie, it's a good job I love you"!!
Thankyou Titch, Mr D and Hazel Lucy for my Birrhday wishes.
Sorry Titch (he's my nephew) I didn't save you any chicken 'cos I ate it all!! MOL!
I got loads of gifties from my wonderful furiends:-

I just couldn't believe it!! After all my Birthday fun, I'm a DDP Today.
I didn't know until I saw my concats and lovely Crown from my dear friend lil' Muppet. Thankyou so much sweetheart! We're all purring that the needles help with your pain.
Tate, Tonka & their lovely family also concatulated me on my DDP with my birthday cupcake!
P.S. Mum says if the diary girl reads how I smacked her, I won't get chosen again. I don't agree with her - I bet she was purroud of me!!

I'm 13 years old today - maybe older as I was a pregnant stray cat when mum rescued me - and I don't know!!! I just know that when mum adopted me as one of her own it was the best day in my life! I don't show affection much but ocasionally I'll jump up onto her lap and give her a head butt and my loudest purr.
I just love my food and treats so Birthdays in our house are really the bestest days ever for me. It's good that we're a big family 'cos that means we all get treats on birthdays.
I just don't know what to have - perhaps chicken as I had tuna the last time we had a birthday in the house! Decisions, decisions!!!
I'v been taking my medication for hyper-thyroidism for about 10 weeks now and am doing really well. When I had my last visual check-up my vet was so pleased with me. My heart rate has slowed down and is almost normal now, I've put a little weight on and my coat is shiny again. Next month I'll need blood tests to check things more accurately.
Terry (our lovely vet) asked Mum if I was still being greedy and wanting food all the time. The answer was "Yes". Why change the habits of a lifetime, I say!

I took Queenie to our Vets on Tuesday because I felt something just wasn't right, although it's not long since she had a check up.
She's been losing weight, although she eats a humungous amount and is always wanting more.
She had a blood test whilst we were there. Bless her, she was so good and sat very still while her neck was shaved and the blood was taken.
Terry, our Vet, phoned us with a diagnosis on Wednesday and said her kidneys and liver were functioning well but she had an overactive thyroid gland and was producing too much thyroxin. She's been prescribed 5mg felimazole tables (1 per day) and will have to take them for the rest of her life. Luckily, she's so easy to give tablets to - I just give her 2 small bits of wafer-thin ham and then wrap the tablet inside the 3rd piece and she just gobbles it up straightaway! Then I give her another piece after her tablet.
Although I've had cats for many years I've never had one with this complaint and would appreciate any advise anyone can give me.
Thankyou so much
