Arrival Story: I had just lost my male cat (Simon) and litter mate of Goya. They were Javanese. When Goya got really depressed and began to drop weight my vet recommended I get another kitten ASAP. AND he recommended that I stick to the siamese/javanese/oriental type breeds. I could not find a local javanese breeder as the breeder I got Goya & Simon from had stopped breeding. So I went online. I found Javanese central at Su-Bali & KLM cattery - Kris Willison. She set about trying to find me a male kitten.
It turns out she had Johnny Angel but wasn't yet ready to give him up. In the end she sold him to me & he flew out to SFO in the plane. He arrived w/o a single whisker. The vet marveled that the breeder would clip off all his whiskers. I was so surprised and said "She didn't clip off those whiskers -- he chewed 'em off!" That was the first sign that Johnny Angel was OCD and a special needs cat.
While he required a LOT of attention he gave a LOT of love. Goya and I adored him. When Goya passed over at almost 18 years of age -- Johnny Angel came into his own. And I began my journey to find him a buddy.
Then in Sept of 2007 he got sick on a friday -- nothing too bad -- I thought it might be a cold. On monday early morning I took him to the vet where I was told there was nothing to be done he had kidney & liver failure! He was dead a couple of days later. He was not sick (and had been to the vet only six months earlier). I could NOT believe he went so fast and at only 8 years old.
Six months later I had someone suggest it was very likely that he had some of that contaminated food and it is very likely that is what killed him.
He ws the most amazing & beautiful cat.
Bio: Johnny Angel like to fetch red balls that he could chew on. They had to bounce well and be red. The problem is that scientists say that cats can not see red and in fact see it as black. Johnny hated black toys. He also disliked blue & green. Purple was ok if it leaned towards red. Orange would do if red wasn't available. I went to every cat store in almost every town I visited in search of red toys for Johnny.
