Favorite Food:

trilling cutely, waking me up by getting close to my face and staring at me; now he is trying to pull the bedcovers off me with his little claws!

Arrival Story:
After Lucie crossed the Bridge, I vowed my next cat would come from the Humane Society where I volunteer. Last week I met a handsome black cat in the "sickroom" where the cats with respiratory infections were being isolated. Didn't find any other adoptable possibilities so waited until I went back to volunteer this week (1/10/08). The little fellow had just been released from the infirmary this morning and was back in his cage, where he had languished since October. I took him out for a visit and he won me over when he jumped into my lap and began to purr. He looks very much like my Gremlin, and has a tiny little meow like Lucie, so it appears to me that my kitty angels took a hand in helping me select my new companion!

Mommie Is So Mean!

What a lousy year!

I don't know what kind of year everybody else has had, but mine has been pretty rough. At the end of April Mommie and I moved--from our nice, cozy apartment with a view of the lake (and with a nice gas fireplace, mind you) into Grandma's house so she could take care of Grandma. Grandma was very old and frail and had problems with her memory (Mommie called it dementia). Uncle Dave had been living with her, but he worked and didn't have the time to devote to her, so he got an apartment in Boulder. She also had a BIG DOG, Liesl, who was used to calling the shots in the house. Liesl and I eventually reached a "detente" of sorts but we never have become friends. I drink her water and sometimes she mooches my kibble, and she likes to sniff my rear end (why do dogs DO that?). Well, Grandma got sick and eventually she died. :( Mommie is very sad. Anyway, after the first of the year we're going to move again, back to the apartment complex by the lake, with a fireplace again--yay--and Uncle Dave is going to move back into the house with Liesl. I'm thinking 2013 is going to be a lot better! So Happy New Year, Everycat!
Trills, Starbuck
P.S. They had mousies for awhile, in the garage, but I didn't get to hunt them. That was the worst thing of all!

I finally caught one!

If you look at the new pictures on my page you can see I finally got to catch a mousie! Mommie was not happy it found a way inside, but she caught it in the kitchen Sunday afternoon, and she took it out on the balcony and called me out there. I pounced on it immediately and before she could close the door, took it back inside and began playing with it (torturing it, Mommie said). She took some pictures but then decided to put the critter out of its misery since I was only going to play with it some more and not kill it...gee, I was only doing what cats have done for millennia! Mean Mommie.

The Continuing Saga

Guess you can tell from my latest picture that one of the mousies is still around. I'm embarrassed now--Mommie let me out several times to chase it but all it did was sneak down into one of the nooks or crannies on our balcony and hide from me. So it's back and I'm watching it in place of the birds. Mommie is toying with the idea of putting out a baited mousetrap, but she doesn't really want to kill the mouse--she thinks it's kind of "cute". What a silly gal Mommie is. ;-)
