Arrival Story:
During the recession of the early '90s, my neighbor lost his job and his condo and had to move back to Hawaii. He was unable to take his cats with him, so he took them to a shelter. They wouldn't take one female, however, since she was pregnant. I answered a knock on my door to find my neighbor, in tears, holding his pregnant cat, Sabrina. He had to fly to Hawaii the next day, and he begged me to take Sabrina until the kittens were born, at which time I could take them all to the shelter. Of course I took her in, and being gaga over kittens I wouldn't take any of them to the shelter. I ended up keeping Junior and finding homes for the others among my coworkers.
Bio:
Full name is Alexander the Great Junior. Junior was named after my cat Alex (Alexander the Great) since they had similar markings. Junior was a big boy with attitude. When someone other than myself would pick him up, he would stick all four legs out stiff against the person's chest and stare them in the eye with a disgusted expression. But when I would pick him up, he'd put both forelegs around my neck and butt his forehead against my chest. One friend said she pictured him as an old farmer wearing overalls, with a piece of hay sticking out the side of his mouth. Junior died of kidney failure October 26, 2006, at the age of 13.

My older brofur finally decided to join us today! Fanny and I were beginning to wonder if he was just going to stay in the world forever! OK, so Meowmi probably would've liked that, except for having to give him meds so often. I know HE didn't like getting the meds - who does?? But now that he's here, he's looking like his old distinguished self, and no more meds!! We're partying tonight!
