Dear Diary,

No furriends, this is not what you might have expected... my family has entered no pictures in the World's Coolest photo contest. My favor that I ask of you is this: Please, when you are voting? Do not just look for your furriends and give them five paws... please look at all the pictures in the category and vote for the photo that you think truly is the best whether you know the kitty or not.

We can all be all about our furriends when it comes to their diaries, their lives, their health ups and downs, their Catster honors or birthdays or whatever else we love them for! Sometimes its just fur being the nicest kitty to curl up next to when you want to nap by someone sweet and purring.

But when it comes to a contest with prizes, well shouldn't it be about who really has the best entry? Don't get me wrong! Some of my furriends have the most wonderful photos of themselves imaginable! I think my angel furriend, Mercy's furmily has to take the prize fur bestest kitty photos!

If your furriend's picture is the best, then by all means, give it five paws up! :~) But please give those five paws too to the wonderful pictures that get entered of kitties that you might not even know. Because it really should be about who has the best picture and not who has the most furriends. :~)

We been lookin at alla pitchers an deciding which ones to vote fur. We vote fur our furriends too but not jus them. I winned in outdoor & country kitty category las year--not cuz of furriends but cuz it was a GOOD PITCHER. I was furry happy an 'cited 'bout it. We's tryin to be fair.

Thank you for posting that. You're absolutely right. The photo contest should be about the photos. It should not be a popularity contest. We can save that for the High Schools.

You are so very right! I think that it is better that they don't give zealies out for voting either~ that did not seem to make it very fair. I wish they would create another way for us to earn some zealies though!

Wise as usual, Miss Emily. Mommy stopped entering any of us in contests years ago that went by votes instead of judges. She felt they were just popularity contests and not fair to the spirit of the contest.
