Arrival Story:
Back in 1983 I had visited Boulder, Colorado's Halloween Mall-Crawl after hearing lots of wild stories about it. As I was standing there with a bunch of friends, a pickup truck drove up. Someone threw a box out of the back. The truck drove off again as fast as possible. The box was marked, "Black Cats For Halloween." Inside was a mother and three kittens. I took Smokey. I'm glad to say the rest found forever homes too. I'd better never find the driver of that truck!
Bio:
We brought Smokey home and put him on the floor. He looked around and seemed to say, "Okay, this is fine, I'll live here." ... Smokey had the most astounding coat. It was always perfectly groomed. The texture was like petting something made of silk or glass. However, you were not allowed to touch it; he would never allow brushing and, truth be told he didn't even like being petted. Being admired from over there was good enough for him. ... We lost Smokey to the infirmities of old age in 1998.
