One day my husband came home from work and asked me, "Did you see the red cat in the driveway?" I hadn't seen such a cat, so I went out to look. There on the driveway was The Red Cat, scrawny and with staring hair and a look of slight bewilderment that he wore all his life. I brought him out a handful of food and he ate it immediately; same with another handful, so I brought him in the kitchen, plopped him in front of the food bowl and there he stayed for the rest of his life.
Bio:
The Red Cat never met anyone he didn't like, and, oddly enough, we never owned a cat, dog or ferret who didn't like him. When we had a litter of baby ferrets born, Red cared for them and washed them. When new cats came into the household he was always kind to them. His sense of grace and self assurance were always remarkable. ... At the age of 16 (at least; he was an adult when we met him), Red developed a tumor on his cervical spine that quickly paralized him from the neck down, and we were forced to part. What an amazing and wonderful friend he was! We will always miss him.
