Arrival Story:
We adopted "Snoopy" as he was known then from our local PetSmart. My husband spotted him in the adoption area; he opened the cage door and this little Tuxedo launched himself onto my husband wrapping himself around his neck. We couldn't get over how much this little guy resembled our other cat Halftone. It occurred to us that we could have matching Tuxedos, very exciting. After a short period of time due to our kitten's crazy, extreme mid air acrobatics we named the little dude "Ezra Lusk" after the motocross racer. It was a slow adjustment adding Ezra Lusk to our household. Ezra's foster parent explained to us that our new Tuxedo boy had some serious behavioral issues - he was the runt of the litter and liked to make his littermates cry. It seemed that we were adopting 4 pound, 6 month old a bully.

It wasn't long after we got settled into an normal routine that he got really sick all of a sudden and lost one of his 9 lives. He was lying around a lot and wasn't eating too much. I knew he was sick, I just didn't understand how serious it was. We took him to the ER Vet near our house where he was put on an IV to hydrate his little body and bring down his 107-degree brain cooking fever. Ezra spent a week at our regular vet and made a full recovery. More lives lost...down to 4. Our little guy had a really rough time last year. He became severely ill in June after we came home from vacation. He stopped eating, drinking and was not using his litter box. I knew he was in big trouble and took him to our vet. I was told that he was in full renal failure that might result in kidney damage and he was completely blocked. Ezra is such a tough cookie; he pulled through and had no kidney damaged but became blocked 2 more times within the next 10 days. The vet said that, Ezra had crystals in his urine and diagnosed him with FLUTD. Our vet gave us one option to save his life and suggested that he have a P/U procedure. Unfortunately the medication he was on after his surgery had side effects and caused Ezra to become diabetic. The FLUTD was very damaging to his bladder and he now has bladder control problems. He was put on a special diet by the Vet to keep his FLUTD in check. The road to Ezra's recovery is still a daily event in our house. I watch him very close to make sure that he is always using his litter box. The diabetes is under control for now but I do worry about his FLUTD causing more blockages. Ezra Lusk has an amazing personality; it's hard to put in words just how cool this guy really is. If you are sick and not feeling well he will not leave your side. He loves to play "baby", which means lying in the crook of your arm while you hold his butt for hours. He will look up at you with those big loving eyes and push his paws into your hair. He is extremely possessive and jealous. He doesn't understand that he has to share me with the husband, who is very patient and understanding of this nutty cat. He likes to race you to the sofa to make sure he gets the best seat in the house. And my favorite skill of all, is his strange vocalizations, he roams around the house yowling, talking and barking. His new favorite spot for yowling is in the shower; it echoes in there. He has totally scared a couple of our friends who are not familiar with his talking abilities; they look around for the dog.

Feeling Good...

Well I am feeling so much better. I must had some weird virus or cold. I don't have a fever anymore and my eyes are clear. I have been playing in my tissue papers and with my ribbons...oh so much fun!!!

My bladder is still my biggest daily challenge. I have plenty of baby pads that I sit on during the day. I can't go a lot when I am in the LB, just little amounts but I visit often.

Any kitty have a similar problem with thier bladder? If you do please write me as I would like some ideas of how I can improve.

Thanks to all my furiends for sending me Rosettes, really made me feel so good knowing you guys care so much.

I have a lovely Power of the Paw from my new furiend Lola. Well wishes from Scooter, you are my angel.

And thanks to Cammi, Rocky Ann, Pandora, Gooj, Bunny and Nikita for the Holloweenie treats.

Lots of purrs, and headbonks...
Ezzie Boo

Meow my Furiends,

Thanks to the kitties out there for purring for me. I can't believe that only 24 hours later I would be saying that I feel better. No more green goo flowing from my eyes, temperature down to 100.5, when the Mom took it late yesterday afternoon it was 103.2. She took it again at 7pm and it was on it's way down so the purrents decided to not take me to the Vet. I was offered some gravy from a can of Fancy Feast, I ate most of that and then my Mom hand feed me my Royal Canine SO. I even got to drink water out of a glass (Mom caught me drinking from her glass last week).

I slept all stretched out against the Mom, and when Halftone tried to lay down next to the Momma, I beat him up.

Mom is going to take my temperature again tonight. Lucky for her I am the best kitty patient in the world!

Love, purrs and whisker kisses to all my furiends on Catster!

Ezzie Boo

Hello Furiends,

Sorry haven't been online much lately. Mom and I have been battling my bladder problems. I am having more frequent accidents and have been on antibiotics for the last 7 days.

Today I woke up with green goo in my eyes and have not been myself. Now I feel hot to the touch and my bladder is really bad, I keep wetting myself and now Mom is doing my laundry again.

I think I have another visit in store with the VET. My Mom is watching me very closely and will keep you posted on how I do.

Love, purrs and whisker kisses...Ezzie Boo
