The Woman kept telling me that she really thought this would be Spot's last summer. He'd been losing weight, despite many many meals a day. He was still acting like himself, but it was obvious that he was getting older & weaker rapidly. He was even having the occasional accident, and had started using the human toilet instead of his litter box. She wasn't looking forward to the day when she'd have to take him in to the vet for that final visit. But she was also determined not to let him suffer. From having other old kitties, we all suspected kidney failure or cancer.

Despite his apparent deterioration, he was still managing to trick his humans by running out the back door almost daily. He mostly stayed near and around the ducks in the backyard, so the escape habits were overlooked. After all, if an ancient cat wants to go out and sit with a flock of ducks, why not?! There is one place Spot NEVER goes near: the road out front. His little brother was killed there when they were both less than a year old. Spot has always been very leery of that area.

But for some reason, the other night he decided to leave the backyard and venture there. The humans heard the horrible noise of the accident and came rushing outside to see what/who had been hit... They found Spot unconscious, but alive. They rushed him to the emergency vet, but arrived too late. They said he woke up briefly, looked up at them and purred a little. He was in such shock, they don't think he felt much... I sure hope that they are right. He was such a loved little guy, it's horrible he had to go this way.

In response, the Humans put up a new leash run and are more strictly enforcing the rule that all cats must go outside with collar and leash only. So far only Tutu, Spot's once Valentine, is objecting loudly.

It almost feels as though Spot knew what was coming, and chose his own time. Goodbye, little Spot the Dot. May you be at peace with your father, mother, and brother Spartikiss. Farewell, my friend.

Spot is going to be a pawsome guardian angel to watch over all of you. He is in orientation today, so don't expect to see any angel dust until later tonight.

*sniff* Loved you big guy will miss you. Calvin has been kept fury busy lately lots of our catster furends have crossed the bridge these past months. Mom's heart breaks efury time she reads catster. Her eyes are leaking now .

Many purrs, we also know the love of freedom. I still leave the house every morning. I just have to be outside. Durning the night the humans lock me up in the bathroom, my toileting is not the best these days. but I howl all through the night. If they wake they usually hear me howling my little head off. I hate been locked up. A soon as they open the door I'm straight out there.
Human: It's hard to know what is the best for them.

Oh this is so sad, we prayed for you all. And Mom, you are truly very smart to leash all the kitties from now on.

We're so sorry we can't stop crying. Spot lived such a monumental life and we love all the photos of him so very much.

My family is saying 'Good Bye sweet boy, we wish we met you' as he stands beside me at the Bridge waving down with all the love he can send you.

I am blessed to meet him. And so were you; oh so very Blessed.

So sorry to read the news about Spot, he was truely a special kitty. We all loved reading the stories of his adventures. Sending love to you all at this difficult time. You were blessed to have him and he has left you so many wonderful memories.

Hi,

I found Spot's diary via Calvin's. Spot and his brother have a lot in common with me and mine. I had a car accident at 6 months but lived. I'm now 6 and a half. Soon after my accident, when we were 11 months old, my brother was killed in an accident at the same spot.

I now have an adopted brother called Tidge and he is a Toothless Wonder too!

Spot, Marc and I were so sad to hear what happened. We will miss you, and know how much your humans are missing you. You were very dear to us. I'm so glad we got a last chance to romp and hang out over the 4th of July this year.

You lived all of your 9 lives very well.
