Arrival Story: Nigel was found with another kitten outside by some friends of ours in Florida. They called us to see if we wanted another cat. Nigel was so pretty I felt bad about picking him, so we picked his sister. Well, she went crazy in the car and we had to let her out, so we went back inside and got Nigel. He slept on my lap all the way home. Our friends kept his sister. We adopted him about mid-October 1994 and he was already a big kitten, so we think he was about 10-12 weeks old. I picked his birthday to be August 1 since he is definitely a Leo!
Bio: He is a Seal Lynx point tabby and he is named after Nigel Tufnel of Spinal Tap. He has lived with all types of animals: ferrets, hamsters, mice, gerbils, rats, a dog and even a prairie dog named Honey! He gets along with everyone and every animal he meets. Nigel is my sweetheart, even though he can get grumpy sometimes. Nigel was born in Pensacola, Florida in the summer of 1994 and now lives in Texas.
Nigel passed away in my arms on October 22, 2010. He was diagnosed with vaccine-associated sarcoma and we took him in for a steroid infusion. He developed thrombosis in his back legs and couldn't walk for about a month. After being at the vet for 5 days, we took him home because we didn't think it was time for him to go yet. He stayed with us for 3 more weeks. Even though he couldn't walk and we had to bring his food and water to him, he did well until the last few days before he passed. On the day he went to the Bridge, he hung on until we got home from work. We had planned to help him to the Bridge on that Saturday. We are honored that Nigel waited for us to come home; he went his way. Rest in peace my dear sweet Nigel Boy.
Hi kitties! Today marks my 6th week here at the Rainbow Bridge. Mom thought it was about time she helped me with my diary. She was already crying and missing me, so she thought a little (or a lot more crying) wouldn't hurt! When I arrived here at the Bridge on October 23rd, I was welcomed by Kiki and all of mom's furbabies, my best furiend Henry, beautiful Athena of the A Team, Arthur, my angel guardian Buddie and all the wonderful furiends I had met during my 6 years on Catster that have gone before me.
Mom says she gets the saddest when she is by herself on her days off from work. Even dad says when mom is at work and he is by himself, it is tough. Mom came home from work one Monday night and dad was on the sofa crying and he said he gets the saddest when he is alone. Dad said that Gimli went around the house into each room one night and looked all over for me. I think K.C. and Tabi miss me too. They sleep more on the sofa now. K.C. even sits on mom and dad's laps now while they watch tv!
Mom says that it was an honor that I had hung on and waited for them both to come home from work. Well, I loved them and thought of them highly. They said I was always with them through thick and thin and in good times and in bad. I moved all the way from Florida here to Texas with them!
Well, I must go back to playing with my furiends here at the Bridge! Love y'all!
Wow, mom sure was surprised when she checked her email this morning and I was named COTD! It was a very pleasant and unexpected surprise! Mom stayed up late again last night to do what else...homework! mol So she slept in a little late today. Well, I forgave her. I sure am glad she was off work this weekend. Gimli, mom and I took a nice, long nap on K.C.'s bed today!
I got lots of nice emails, purrty prezzies and rosettes, and nice compliments today from my Catster friends.
