Arrival Story:
Prissy was once a young couple's cat that was given a home with our friend Mike when they weren't able to keep her for some odd reason in 1994. She was 7 years old at that point & when with Mike was best buddies with an awesome polydactyl, brown tabby named Toes. Mike had to move around & some *ahem* jerky turkey he was living with did something to Toes where he never was found or returned. Mike then moved in with his ailing mother & as she was allergic to cats, Prissy came to live with us in February of 1999. Whilst she was awful fond of Toes, she took to our Captain Stubing, who is actually a cosmic mix of both Prissy & Toes, as he is a brown tabby polydactyl, with a bob tail. Prissy defies time & although she's an old gal, she gets around & is always there to help you eat. She is not picky with what you have & will eat anything. She even likes popsicles.

Oh poor Prissy. For the past 2 months I'd been talking with my husband & vet, as I noticed she was going downhill, rather quickly & was incontinent, making for her hind quarters to being very dirty & smelly. She was always fastidiously clean & not being able to keep clean & then being subjected to baths was a real bummer for her. My husband & I asked our vet what he thought & he'd said that if she really didn't like bathing & found it stressful, perhaps we should do the painfully kinder thing to do, but neither I or the hubby could bring ourselves to do it. She started going downhill on October 2 & by evening on Saturday, October 4, she was actively dying. Poor girl put up a real hard fight & even though I gave her what I thought would be a fatal dose of a sedative, she kept on going. My husband slept with her in his arms until he had to go out on a call at 6:00 & she slept in my arms until 10 am, when he'd returned home & we sought out an emergency vet to end her suffering. She left this world quite peacefully after trying to stay on at 11:55 am. We'd given her a peaceful & pampered life & tried to give her a dignified death. She is buried with a "Pearly Gates" rose bush which I hope will help heal the sorrow & sadness we feel without her.
