Moppet's forget-me-nots are starting to bloom. I wasn't sure they'd come back. -M.M.

Gone One Year

In a few hours my beautiful little girl will have been dead one year. It doesn't seem like so long ago, the horror still feels fresh.
It has been a pretty miserable year in general, and the economic collapse hasn't much helped. I miss Moppet's sweet, loving comfort every time I think about her. She was my medicine cat, and always helped me tolerate the otherwise intolerable. My other cats are great, but she was so bizarrely fixated on me, on my mood, on making sure I always felt needed. I got spoiled by her attentiveness and empathy. She was such a sensitive and loving girl. I can't stand to think about her much, still. So many memories and regrets. I'll try to post some more pictures of her today, though I'll probably try to stay busy and out of the house as much as I can.

FIP got Charlie

A darling little boy kitty named Charlie was just taken by FIP. Please send his family your condolences. http://www.catster.com/cats/957189
It is especially bad because he had a brother, Merlin who loved him very much and will be an only kitty now. Such a dreadful disease. Rest in peace, poor baby Charlie.

Thanks, Sammy!

One of our first friends on Catster, Sammy 679925, put a remembrance up for Moppet. Thanks, Sammy. We still miss her terribly. February is going to be especially hard for us. I'm going to try to get a longer slide show up for her, and I have some cell phone videos to put up to. -M.M.

Phineas lives!

Our pal, Phineas, just battled a Mycoplasma infection. This nasty bacteria causes anemia by infecting the kittie's red blood cells. Then the kittie's body destroys the red blood cells attempting to rid itself of the bacteria, with the loss of red blood cells resulting in anemia. Insidious! It can be spread by fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes. Even with Advantage, my kitties get bit now and then, so this is a disease to look out for. Luckily, Phineas is getting better. We are so glad for him and his family. -M.M.

My Purrfect Little Girl

Moppet's Mommy here. Missing my little Moppet a lot today. A stray can be so full of love and such a devoted friend. Please adopt, don't purchase cats. Why reward someone for bringing more cats into a world where cats are killed for being so numerous? It makes no sense for healthy cats to be put to death while purebred cats are sold like livestock. Save a life instead. Have a good Christmas and cherish all kitties.

Missing you on Christmas

Moppet's mommy here. The other day when I was looking at my dad's tree I realized this is my first Christmas in about 7 years without my Moppet. I would always bring her over to my dad's to see his tree. His cat, Chia, is getting old and senile. I think this may be the last year for him. He is about 17. Sad to go on without my dear kitties. I will never forget them.

Moppet's Song

Moppet's Mommy here. Still not coping too well with Moppet's death. If I think about her at night I can't sleep. I found that every time I hear this Talking Heads song I start sniffing. It never bothered me much before, now I keep wondering how it seems David Byrne wrote a song about Moppet before she was born. I guess it is her song now, so I put it on her page. -M.M.

I found a lovely forget-me-not plant in a vacant lot, dug it up, and planted it on Moppet's grave. It looks pretty nice. All the kitties like to go sit by the grave as if they are giving Moppet a visit.
