Leave a treat for Bene

Nicknames: Ben-Ben, Benjamin, Kitten(although i pronounce it "Kit-Ten" likes its 2 words..), Mr. Kitty, Devil Cat, Crazy, Beanie, etc.

Quick Bio:
Likes: My mother. And treats. Oh.... and being scratched on his chin. Note the pictures...

Pet-Peeves: Being bothered/pestered. He'll claw and bite. Very evil boy.

Favorite Toy: He's had the same lavender teddy bear since we brought him home. It's his best friend. He carries it, grooms it, um... does other things to it.. I think he'd be lost without it.

Favorite Nap Spot: The back of one particular recliner in the living room. Or in his little cat bed in my parents' room.

Favorite Food: Whatever we make him eat. :) Right now its Nature's Recipe "Lite" food. He's kinda porky.

Skills: None that he's revealing. For all I know, he could be a super-genius who's planning to take over the world.

Dwells:
indoors

Arrival Story: A friend of my family owns a farm... and had barn cats. When one of them became pregnant... I started begging the 'rents for a kitten. Eventually my dad caved and I picked out the black/white one. Once he was home... my mom was turned as well. He was just too darn cute. It's a good thing we took him because not long after.... his mother and the rest of his siblings got into some antifreeze in the barn and didn't make it. :( Bene is the sole survivor of his family. :( Bene's name come from a friend. She boarded her horse at the same farm where Bene was born. This horse was the friendliest horse I had ever met and I just loved riding him. It's like he was teaching me more than my friend was. He was amazingly smart. One day something happened to his leg and the vet gave him a shot of penicillin.... not knowing he had a severe allergy to it. Bene the horse passed away not long after that. My friend was devastated! When it came time to name my kitten... and my friend joked that the kittens should all get horse/riding-related names like "Boots", "Chaps", etc..... I decided to ask her if it would be ok to name him after her horse. She was so touched by my gesture. Now.... if only Bene the cat was as friendly and sweet as Bene the horse was.....

Bio: Bene had quite an adventure when he was about a year old. I was taking my senior finals @ school... had finished and called my father to pick me up. He said he'd get there as soon as he found the cat. WHAT!?!? Apparently, Bene had been snoozing on the bathroom windowsill... and had accidentally opened the window and fell out! Our house is really old and we have ancient windows. You have to actually hook the outer window(storm or screen) onto the outside of the house. The latch for the outer windows are a hook and eye. He must've kicked them when he stretched and it swung out. Eventually my dad found him under our neighbor's deck... scared out of his little mind. He was hissing and spitting like a feral cat! He wouldn't come to him... scratched the heck out of him too. So he figured he wasn't going anywhere... came to pick me up.... and we both tried. Eventually he had to make a catch pole out of an old mop handle and some telephone wire. Then we got him. Poor Ben-Ben! Needless to say.... he's forever terrified of the outdoors. You could leave the doors and windows wide open and he'd steer clear. :)
