Arrival Story:
Catfish moved with our then next door neighbor's daughter from Florida. Her life before the move is sketchy, but when she arrived in Birmingham she was banished to the outdoors. She showed up one day in our backyard sprawled out on the picnic table in the sun. That's the day she decided we were her new owners, and that was her home. Period. Nothing we could do about it. We really didn't want her. We had just lost a cat and weren't quite ready for another one. Especially not one like her. She was half wild and would bite the stew out of us for no apparent reason. Just to see if we were staying on our toes. She does less of these "reflex tests" now, but she'll still get us every now and again. Especially if dinner is late. When we moved, our former next-door neighbor warily asked if we were planning on taking her. She was a part of the family by then, having already moved in and established herself and of course we said yes. I think you could hear their sigh of relief down the block.

Bio:
She loves Tiger, and will snuggle with him on the couch for hours. When we moved to the new house, she wasn't about to be abandoned again, and she refused to go outside for months. We recently installed a pet door, and she's got a circuit that she does every few hours. She goes out the pet door downstairs, and goes up onto the back deck. She sits there in front of the sliding glass door until we let her in. Then when she's inside she'll go back downstairs and do it all over again. We don't mind, because she's at least getting some exercise. She is on special weight loss/control diet, gets only what she's allowed, and has been poked and prodded by the vet numerous times. We lost our previous cat to fatty liver disease, so we worry about her weight a lot. Our vet, however, tells us that she's healthy and happy and not to worry. Catfish stayed with Mom when Tiger and I moved to Atlanta, but we visit on weekends and Catfish always makes sure to get her Tiger snuggle time in if I take him with me.
