Arrival Story:
I wanted a companion for Pepper when he was about a year old, so I went back to the same organization, Help for Pets, & asked if there were any females aound that age available.
Bio:
As you can see, Monie is a polydactyl. She has 5 toes each on her front paws, but on her right paw she has a double claw so she actually has 6 claws on that paw. She has 7 toes each on her back paws. But heaven forbid anyone touch those precious paws! She will snarl, hiss & strike. (Fun for me when I have to trim her claws!) Actually, she is a bit of a drama queen, because she'll snarl & hiss no matter what is bothering her at the moment. As you can see on her list of pet peeves, these rules, plus being fed exactly when she wants, are how she is on a daily basis. That being said, she is also a terrible flirt! She flirts with me, my kids, my friends, my fiance, his friends, anyone. She'll come up & "chirp" & then twine around your legs, wanting attention, & to be pet (gently, of course) & she'll do the eye squeeze at anyone! She has no shame. And of course, everyone loves her for it, with her being so pretty & sweet to them ;) Her stance is also funny, as her legs are thick to support those paws, her front legs look slightly bowlegged, like she's a little bulldog. Monie is hungry 24 hours a day, too. She is really funny & I love my pretty girl!
**UPDATE** Sadly, Monie died on Wednesday, June 29, 2005. She was sick for about a week; she stopped eating & washing herself, & she was breathing heavy & very lethargic. The vet said it might be an infection (her bloodwork came back normal) & Monie was put on an antibiotic which if it didn't work she was to have more tests such as x-rays, etc. I decided I wasn't going to put her through the stress of those "tests" at her age (15 years old) & she was declining rapidly. I called the vet to make The Appointment We Never Want To Make for the following day & fifteen minutes later she literally dropped dead. (I'm pretty sure it was heart failure) I thanked her for taking that decision out of my hands, cried over her because I will miss her, & laughed at her for her dramatic exit--so appropriate for the drama queen she was.
