He appreciates humans, knowing he would be dead without us. REALLY!!
Our elderly next door neighbor had a cat that ran the neighborhood and eventually had kittens. She had three that survived, or so we thought until one day we saw her with four. Then the next three weeks all we saw was time was three again. We figured they needed another home since the elderly man just let them run the neighborhood anyway. Through an elaborate trap, I caught mom and the three babies. The mom was extremely loving and seemed to like us. Unfortunately, we already had a cat and due to our house's small size, we couldn't handle anymore. I took the cats to our vet's office and, as luck would have it, they knew a farm that was looking for some "mousers." We regretted that the 4th kitten had met a horrible fate, but since we hadn't seen four in almost a month, we figured it was dead.
Three days later our "Pickle" started hissing at the back door. It was the fourth kitten. Once the kitty saw us, it ran for the bushes by our back door. It was very cold outside and we knew the kitty couldn't make it much longer on his own. We took some food out and as scared as the cat was, hunger won out. We brought him in and he never left.
Milo is afraid of EVERYTHING. He loves to be AROUND people and loves coming up to people but doesn't like people to come after him. If anyone tries, he runs. He is afraid of ANYTHING from inkpens to plastic shopping bags. The irony is that he's a BIG cat, weighing in at a tick over 17Lbs. He likes playing with toys and string and harassing our other cat Pickle. He does NOT like the outdoors. He won't go out the door and if carried outside he will grab on to the person carrying him with fear and start crying. He has his routine. Sundays are his favorite, napping next to me on the couch while I read the Sunday paper.
We are extremely glad he moved in.
