Arrival Story: We visited our local cat shelter with a view to adopting two adult cats. However, the first cat we were introduced to was Lisa and her two kittens, Rosie and Lily. There had been a third kitten, but she had been adopted the day before. We fell in love straightaway and adopted all three of them on the spot. They came to live with us the following day.
Bio: Lisa was found wandering around a residential street in a local town in an advanced state of pregnancy. She was taken to the shelter where she was named Mona Lisa because she's pretty as a picture and because of her conversational skills.
When she first came to us, Lisa was very skinny as she had been feeding kittens. However, she has since filled out and is a big girl. She has been so big that one winter she broke the door on the cat flap... The previous cat flap breaking occurred when she wanted to go out (in direct contravention of what we had been told to do by the shelter people) and the plastic was just not strong enough to withstand a determined feline.
Sadly, Lisa has recently been diagnosed with an aggressive carcinoma. We know the short time we have left with her is very precious.
Lisa went to the Rainbow Bridge on 26 December 2008.
