Arrival Story:
Sadly their owner died and they were rescued from a condo. They were living there until someone from the shelter found out they had no living arrangements after the Estate was sold. Some one came in to feed them weekly. Their spirit was broken being Abyssinian's they strive for love and attention. At the shelter on Long Island NY they got very ill with severe diarrhea. Ginny did better after being moved to a office space with Louise. I read about them on PETFINDER.COM. It was one week after Lexi died. I drove to Long Island. I took three ferries to get there. They are twelve years old! So I named them "The Golden Girls" Ginny almost died shortly after we adopted her from a bout of Pancreatitis. I nursed her back to health with medications and daily SQ fluids in her neck. She lost a lot of weight. Then one day she decided live was worth living and she got better. They live in our spare bedroom and are getting re-adjusted to multi-cat household. Soon I want to let them explore the rest of the house. Ginny is fragile and skinny so we do slow meetings through pet gates..

Louise developed acute shortness of breath over several days. I rushed her to the Vet on 08-21-08. After a chest x-ray and two lung taps, she was dx with a large metastatic lung cancer that was wrapped around her lungs and heart. She remained in respiratory distress despite fluid being drawn off. We made the tough choice to end her suffering. All she could do is breath for the last 4 days of her life.
I am sad that I was only able to have her for 16 months. At 17! She was a tough lady. I was able to have a great night with her sleeping on my feet 2 night before she died. She was to weak to climb on the computer desk, so she decided to cuddle up with my feet.
I still have her sister Ginny who seems to be adjusting well to the loss!
