Arrival Story: We saw Hannah at an adoption site from a local shelter. We were "only looking" (yeah right), but saw the sign on her and her siblings cage, saying that they were found at the city dump. She was no doubt the ugliest kitten I had ever seen! Stringy gray fur, very scrawny, runny eyes, and missing all the hair on the top of her head. Needless to say, she stole my heart. I convinced my patient husband that she'd never be chosen, so we took her h0me. I keep forgetting to add, the shelter didn't think anyone would want her either, because they just gave her to me, no adoption fee! It has to be the best decision I have ever made. This little girl has brought more pure love and affection, and more joy to my life than I ever could have imagined. I can't stand to be away from her.
Bio: We learned from her foster mother, that a puppy she was fostered with was responsible for chewing the fur from her head. She looked more like a monkey, than a kitten. She has almost no voice, just squeaks, or says "hah", like she is saying her name! Her purr is just a vibration.. Hannah holds her paws up to be lifted into my arms. She would let me carry her for hours. Each morning she wakes me kneading and suckling my neck, and giving me french kisses. She loves to wrestle with the boys, and when we brought Enzo home, she camped out on top of his carrier and they became best friends. Hannah is the best part of my life right now. No matter how bad the day has been, everything is okay again when she jumps into my arms, and wraps those fuzzy feet around my neck! When I am holding her, it's just she and I...the rest of the world doesn't even exist. My lifetime love.

I usually don't have time to play the "Tag" diary games, but I couldn't resist when our darling friend Ollie P. tagged me. So here goes...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is the "2009 Get to Know Your Pals" Tag.
1. What color is your collar? Black leather. But no spikes, I'm not a punk-rocker!
2. What kind of food do you eat? Pretty much anything you put in front of me, I'm not picky at all. :) My main kibble is Purina Pro Chicken and Rice, but I love Fancy Feast Dry and anything from a can except really fishy smelling ones.
.
3. What are your favorite treats? Right now that would be Friskie's Party Mix Beachside or Wild West. I also love Whiska Lickin's tuna and shrimp, and Temptations beef. We used to eat Kookamunga catnip treats, but they got too expensive. Plus real turkey and chicken and ham and roast beef. I love to eat!
4. Do you have a Valentine or significant other? Yes! My Valentine for the last two years was the adorable and handsome PJ. We are a low-key couple, but I love him ever so much. His picture is on my page. Purrrrr
5. Do you get table scraps? Just the meat, like I mentioned above. If mom buys one of those rotisserie chickens or turkeys, we all get to eat the little trimmed off pieces, and the pickings from the bones. Nothing goes to waste in our house!
6. What is your favorite toy? Like Ollie, I love peacock feathers. The ones we get come from a peacock farm near here. The kind lady saves them for us when the birds molt. I also love twistie-ties, and those little rattly furry mice. But my favorite toy would have to be a large black fuzzy mouse that Wally sent last Christmas. Don't know what it is about that one, maybe it's because it's almost life-size! mrrrow!
7. When is your birthday? It's April 5th. That's a guess, as I was found at the city dump, but it's pretty accurate because I was only about 4 1/2 to 5 weeks old when I was adopted.
8. How many times a day do you eat? MOL. If you could see the size of my tummy...you would say ALL DAY! We get canned food most nights, but dry food is always available.
9. Do you have a favorite color? Not really...if I did, it would be shades of blue, or purple.
10. Do you hope all your pals put this in their diary? Sure, but if they are too busy, boy do I understand that! I just hope they have fun reading my answers.
Now it's your turn! Copy these questions and type your answers - then post it on your diary!!! Please, don't forget to tag 6 of your friends!
Here are the friends I am tagging: (in no particular order)
I have to growl a little here.
First, let me say, that we normally eat Purina Pro Adult dry, and mom mixes in Purina Naturals, Science Diet Oral, Purina Kitten, and Purina Pro Kitten. She mixes it up in a BIG, BIG barrel. I will take a picture next time. :)
Anyway, that's making me hungry, I almost lost my train of thought...
For treats, we go through a whole bag at one time, so usually momma gets us Fancy Feast dry as a treat food, which we love. Last night, she was at the store, and they had a sale on a food called "Wholesome Goodness". Have you ever tried it?
Don't.
Within ten minutes of us all eating some, half the cats threw it back up! It was unbelievable. Mom had to go from room to room (sorry, graphic...) and by the time she was finished, HER tummy didn't feel so good either!
So she said she will feed it to the big black grackles that visit our front yard.
I think she has the right idea now...WHOLESOME GOODNESS IS FOR THE BIRDS!
*hops down from her soapbox*
Sweet Treats this Halloween, and Sweet Dreams tonight~
Love, Hannah
*Hannah dusts off her diary, and fumbles with the key*
Whew, it's been a while since I wrote in my diary.
Better get your coffee or tea, and sit down this is going to be long~
I may have told many of you what my pawrents do for a living. They travel all over South Texas, and do wiring for computers, cable systems, home theaters, and they hang flat screen TV's in homes and businesses. It takes them into all manner of homes, in every possible economic level. They have done 12 thousand sq foot estates, and three story vacation homes with elevators, on the water. They have also worked in rural shacks with plywood floors and tin foil on the windows.
Today as they pulled up at their first job, they were greeted with large orange signs from the police department saying "No Tresspassing", and the door across from the apartment they were to work in bore a sign that said "Warning-High Risk, Do not knock on door".
They quickly learned it was a half-way house for people with Aids and Mental Health issues.
The residents were not there, so the apartment was empty and a maintenance man let them in.
But the apartment was not completely empty. In it was a couch, missing cushions, with stuffing falling out, carpet so soiled the true color was indistinguishable. In the bedroom, where the TV was going, there was a bare, dirty mattress, no sheets, and only a block of foam to serve as a pillow. It was the worst mom had ever seen, and she has seen a lot of poverty.
About now, you are wondering why I am writing about this. A couple of reasons.
The first, is Massie, a beautiful siamese mix male cat that was the apartments mascot. He followed mom every where she went, up and down the stairs. He did not seem to mind living among all this sickness and despair. He happily raced from apartment to apartment.
This last year has been a very hard one for my family. Besides the death of my brother Zack, and the serious illnesses of my brothers Stinky and Harry, we have had some extremely serious financial troubles. Mom had been feeling very sorry for herself lately, and almost given up hope, even to the point of leaving Catster. Then today happened, and once again, she was reminded that as bad as she thinks her problems are, there are always those that have it much worse. And like Massie, we cats and humans can adjust to the lack of material things, we can find happiness in the most unlikely places. All that really matters, all that ever will really matter, is friendship and love. If we have that, then all else can be dealt with.
That is what we have found on Catster.
And that is what I am thanking you for today.
