Arrival Story:
While shopping at PetsMart, we came upon the Kitty adoption section that is sponsered by the local Feline Rescue. It was late, and most of the cats and kittens were napping. (So sad to see so many). There was just one cat who decided to greet us, butting his head on the glass everytime we walked by and meowing to us when we spoke to him. He was very thin. There was just something about him that connected with us. We inquired about him, but the folks that sponsor the adoptions had gone home for the night. We decided to return bright and early the next morning. He was still there and when he saw us he came butting his head up against the glass and purring quite loudly. If there had been any doubt before it simply evaporated with that greeting. The lady from the rescue was so happy that someone had shown an interest in one of the older cats. Kittens are usually adopted immediately, but older cats are not that lucky. Danny was only seven monthes old, but he was almost full grown and people prefer the "toddlers". He had been one of seventy stray cats rescued from the streets of Lawrence, Ma. Can you imagine giving shelter to and attempting to find homes for 70 stray cats? We are so blessed we found him. He's skinny no more. He has a healthy appetite, his fur has grown long (we thought he was a shorthair), has never clawed the furniture, investigates everything with restraint and patience, is not the most graceful cat when he jumps or lands and prefers to sleep with people especially if one of their hands is outstretched. That s where he places his head and purrs. I think he is happy he found us , too. Please support responsible shelters. These little abandoned angels need them until they can find a forever home.
