Arrival Story: After moving into the house, I put a bird feeder out back. I also have a riding lawn mower pretty close to the feeder. About a month after moving in, I looked out back thru the kitchen window and I saw Sadie hiding underneath the lawn mower watching the birds. At that time, the birds were just as much a source of food as they were a source of entertainment for her. I opened the back door and Sadie took off. About six weeks ago, Sadie was back. I put food and water out there and she was pretty skittish but she finally approached me. I put a dog house out back and I found her sleeping in it a time or two. Sadie became a "regular" real quick. As the temperature started dropping, she stayed closer to the house and would often lay on the steps right by the back door. One day I opened the door to check on her and she ran right in and has basically been inside ever since.

Bio: For several days, Sadie stayed in the laundry room. She would hiss at the other cats in the house when they sat on the other side of the door. Then she decided that she wanted to check out the rest of the house. She hisses or squeaks at the others (especially the males) but over-all, she acts like she's been in the family for years. Sadie doesn't "meow" like the others, she definitely has the "squeak" thing going on. I have no idea if she has a family somewhere else, but she knows that she has a place to call home right here. I let her out every day and some days she's out for 12-14 hours while I'm at work but by the time it gets dark, she's waiting to come in and literally runs me over trying to get into the house.
