Arrival Story:
Winkie belonged to Christopher's parents. When I moved to Michigan I missed my old cat very much so he "borrowed" Winkie from his parents to cheer me up. Before we knew it, years had passed and she was ours.
Bio:
Winkie was born in Detroit, Mi. circa 1989 to Tubby. She had a brother named Baby Kitty who has since moved up to kitty heaven.
Winkie was the runt of her litter and remains a pipsqueak to this day; she is often mistaken for a kitten or a young cat, but what she lacks in size she makes up for in personality. She has a loud, abrasive voice and will not hesitate to use it when something is not to her liking.
She is about 18 years old now and has some age-related health issues. She has kidney disease; she is on daily medication for high blood pressure; she has a slight heart murmur; her eyesight isn't what it used to be; she has very little hearing left; she doesn't have many teeth left, and she needs to be fed several times daily because she can't hold down a big meal. Extra water is also mixed into her food to give her kidneys a little more help. Despite these things, she is in great shape and will chase her laser pointer beam with as much enthusiasm as any kitten. We keep her young with lots of exercise, good food and water, lots of attention, and regular check-ups with the vet. Her Sister, who is a bit of a young whippersnapper by comparison, also helps keep her on her toes.
