Arrival Story: I adopted Shadow from our local pound when he was 9 weeks old. In 2002 Shadow got sick (was blocked), xrays showed he was loaded with stones in his bladder and kidneys. Bladder stone removal surgery didnt unblock him so they did a sex change operation because girls can pass stones and boys cant. Shadow came home and was acting like a kitten again and then 2 months later he was diagnosed with CRF (kidney failure). We do sub-q fluids every morning and have our good and bad days. He is a trooper, a good boy. MY HERO~

Bio: Shadow's tummy was swelling and xrays showed his one kidney was failing and leaking urine into his abdomen. I just got back from the vets where Shadow was put down on 9/14/04 at 2:45pm. I bent down, his little face 2 inches from mine and he stared right into my eyes as if he was saying goodbye. He had such a peaceful look on his face. I will hold forever in my heart that I was the last person he saw in life. I have such a heaviness in my chest right now. I am having him cremated and bringing him home one last time. The vet showed me the xrays of his one kidney swollen and he had a stone in him the size of a chicken nugget. I will miss my baby, but at least know he is not suffering anymore.
