   Leave a treat for Sylvester

Vester, Tiwveftew, PurrMonster

Quick Bio:
-mixed breed-cat rescue

sleeping, chin rubs, sleeping, cheek rubs, sleeping, being left alone, sleeping, and getting high on catnip

Our dog Huxley, and being rubbed on his lower belly.

Favorite Toy:
He's a geriatric...he doesn't play with toys. But he LOVES catnip!

Favorite Nap Spot:
Either on the bed, under the bed, or in the closet beneath the shelves or beneath my hanging clothes.

Favorite Food:
Sylvester is on a special diet due to a urinary blockage he had several years ago, but he loves the juice from any kind of wet food, especially tuna, but he rarely eats the tuna or the wet food itself...he just likes to lick all the juices up!

Yes...he communicates with me telepathically...we put our heads together and read eachother's minds. Seriously.

Arrival Story:
I wanted to adopt a cat from the local shelter that euthanizes animals that don't get adopted. I was looking for a full grown cat, not a kitten. I took a lot of time and held and pet probably 15 or 20 cats before I came to Sylvester's enclosure. He was so calm and regal, even in his small cage and in his state of matted hair and drippy eyes. As I held him, he purred and purred and purred and purred. Then he looked at me with those sea green diamond shaped eyes and I just knew that I had to have him come and live with me. When I began the process of adopting him, the shelter informed me that he had been with them for over two months (apparantly an unusually long time) and that due to this extended stay, his adoption fee had been cut by 75%. He was in great danger of soon being euthanized. To me, this was even more of a sign that the two of us belonged together. That was January of 2001, and we have been inseperable ever since! I can't imagine life before Sylvester!

Sylvester has been an indoor/outdoor cat ever since I have had him. However, my most recent move was pretty traumatic for him. He was lost for three days in my new neighborhood before I was tipped off to his possible location...a favorite hangout of Sylvesters is the understreet gutters and sewer tunnels...which he had been roaming for almost 72 hours! I found him as he poked his head up out of the gutter less than a block from my new house! We were so relieved. I took him to the vet and he was fine...just a little confused and flustered. He is now an indoor cat only with outside priviledges when Mommy accompanies him.
