So mom has had about 3 hours of sleep and just got her back adjusted and is sore but I have to let you know what's going on with me.
So mom stayed up with me until 6am and at 8 called the vet. Unfortunately the 3 Doctors we like were booked, the Herbal lady Hondo has seen (not our favorite), and another vet we haven't met. Mom expressed she really didn't want to see Dr. Hoffman 'cause while herbs may work, she is a firm believer in REAL meds. Maybe ignorant on mom's part but she's owning that.
They said bring him immediately 'cause if it's a UTI or urinary blockage time is of the essence! So I'm whisked away and they do a: LI Urine sample collection, LI Urinalysis, and administered Subcutaneous Fluids. My temp and red blood cells were slightly up but not enough to be an UTI we're told. NO crystal or blockage. So that's good. I'm on an ONLY moist diet now, low ash and low carbs. I have inflammation.
Now when mom saw the vet, she saw the Herbal lady and mom wasn't happy. She again wanted to try herbs and mom was so tired and irritated she was like, "fine". When we went to pay mom spoke w/ the lady she had talked to on the phone and was raising MEOW. They understood and talked with the vet. The lady said she tried to get me to see the Dr. I haven't seen before.
FINALLY we were giving Phenoxybenzamine 2.5 2x a day. I didn't taste it as mom broke the capsule and mixed the white powder with my food. If I'm not showing immediate improvement by Monday mom is going to raise meow and get me in again and if it's Dr. H, she's going to the ER.
I find it interesting that Dr. H is always avail and the others aren't. Hmmmmm... For medical, life threatening issues, mom wants medicine MEDICINE, not herbs! Maybe she's wrong, but you can't mess around with herbs when things down there aren't right.
$151 later, she waits on pins and needles.
We're starting our purr engines for you, Mittens! I hope the medicine helps! I hope your Mom doesn't hurt herself on those pins and needles! Purring for you Mittens! We hope the meds kick in fast and help you feel better! This sounds like when Albie had a flare up of Cystitis...no crystals or anything in the Urine...just issues with the litter box. Albie was peeing little quarter size amounts several times a day...in the litter box and out of it. But we know inflammation can be related to it, too. IF (and we REALLY hope you don't have to) but IF you do have to go back, it might be worth asking about Cystitis just in case! Revving our purr motors up for you and your Mom!! Hugs to you both! PS - Mommy says good for your Mom for raising some MEOW! You are her furbaby and docs need to take her concerns seriously!! I agree with Newman! Don't get hurt mommy on pins and needles! I'm purring for you Mittens, super duper purrs! Hope you feel better kiddo. Dad sent your Mom a pawmail. OOOooo, I hope you're feeling better now, Mittens.
I scooted once or twice when I was a little boy but that was because I was a bit constipated and had some business "stuck in the hatch" so to speak. *BLUSH*
Purrrrrrs!!! We're purring for you Mittens! Keep us updated!
