Arrival Story:
I found a house that looked friendly, so I started hanging around. Then these humans showed up, and they petted me and were nice to me. Then they gave me food. I've kinda moved in with them now. They bought me toys and gave me a name. So now -- I'm home! ---- Our darling Perla peacefully crossed the bridge on Friday, August 2, 2013, at around noon. Fly free, darling girl.

Bio:
I'm almost all black, but I have a thin white "necklace" and a pearl pendant. So that's why they call me Pearl. Perla is is my Catster name. They call me Pearl around the house, but we have a Catster buddy named Pearl, so my mommy gave me the Catster name of Perla, which is Pearl in Spanish.

Wow!

Someone has gone onto all of our pages and left us some really nice presents. But we don't know who our Secret Santa is!!

We appreciate them so much! But we really have NO CLUE who left them for us!

We'll try to do a little detective work, but in the meantime, if you see this, Santa, please know we THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!!

Hooray! I DON'T Have Heartworms!

Mommy just got a phone call from my vet. My EKG came out clean! I have no signs of heart disease or of an active heartworm infection! Mommy is SOOOO relieved!

The doc is going to keep me on a tapering dose of prednisone. She wants me to check back in in two months, especially if I start coughing again after I'm off the prednisone. At that point, the doc can check for heartworm antigens (the toxins thrown off by heartworms) or asthma, and if either one shows up, she'll put me back on a low dose of prednisone.

Apparently, it's possible that I never had an infection, even though the antibodies indicate that I was exposed. Hooray for antibodies!

If you live in a mosquito prone area like I do, you might want to think about putting your babies on a heartworm preventative like Revolution if they're not on it now.

Thank you for all the purrs, POP, and purrayers. They were answered!

Purrs,
Perla

Tomorrow...

Mommy says I have to go see the white coats again tomorrow. They are going to try to look inside my heart to see if there are any worms in there. Worms! Yuk! How would a worm get in there?

Anyway, mommy says it won't hurt, but I will be at the vet all day tomorrow. Plus, I have to start taking pills. Yuk! I hate pills! Mommy says she will let everyone know what the vet finds out. She is really hoping that my heartworm infection happened a long time ago so I can start feeling better.

In the meantime, I really wouldn't mind getting some of that POP sent my way.

Purrs,
Perla
