Arrival Story: Pre-Adoption:
Bondi and his 3 brothers (Reefi, Trevi & Benji) were found wrestling and playing tag in an office complex parking lot. Bottlefed and fostered in a loving home with lots of playmates they're socially well adjusted and happy! Bondi (named after Bondi Beach in Australia) has a fun-filled spirit, high energy and eyes that look right into yours as he meows a good morning, good afternoon and good night; Bondi is a character. He loves to play with his little toy mice, carrying them around the house with pride. Full of that kitten spirit, Bondi can be compared to the energizer bunny - he keeps going and going and going!! Once you scoop him up in your arms though, he is as cuddly as can be. Purring from the moment you touch him, he'll curl up in your lap as you watch your favorite tv show or read your favorite book.

Bio: Adoption & Post-Adoption:
I had lost 2 older cats to Chronic Renal Failure in 2006 (Fanny and Junior), leaving me with Felix and Fred. At the beginning of 2008 I finally decided it was time to consider adding another cat to the family. I spent a lot of time online looking at cat webpages and stumbled across Catster (and subsequently became a Catster addict. . .). I ran a Catster adoption search for kittens near me and up popped Bondi's page, with the arrival description above. This little fellow jumped out at me for several reasons: one, he was named after Bondi Beach, which I had visited the previous year; two, he was the same black/white coloring as my cat Fred, and three, he's just so dang adorable! I contacted his foster mom Melinda, went to meet Bondi, and filled out the application form required by the rescue organization. He had an upper respiratory infection at the time and was on antibiotics, and he was also scheduled for cryosurgery on his eyelids for a genetic condition that caused the eyelashes to curl inward and scratch the cornea, which could lead to blindness if untreated. The rescue organization (especially Bondi's foster mom) had been organizing fundraisers to raise the several thousand dollars required for surgeries for Bondi and his three brothers.
So it took several weeks before he was ready to come home with me -- finally I was able to bring him home a few days after his
surgery, complete with a "lampshade" collar! I kept him in the bathroom a couple of days before introducing him to Felix and Fred, but once Bondi was allowed the run of the house, he was right at home!
He loves to pounce and wrestle the other cats (though they don't care for it so much!) and zips back and forth around the house chasing balls and toy mice or carrying a pen or pencil like it's a trophy. He's also particularly fond of stealing the plastic syringes used for giving oral antibiotics to the cats -- I find them all over the house!
If I'm away for awhile, or even just in another room with the door closed, he will follow me around when I'm back & crawl up into my lap, put his "arms" around my neck, and give me little kissies. I don't recall ever having such an affecionate kitty!
He has had a second cryosurgery on his eyelids since I adopted him (which we had expected from the beginning), but the doctor thinks he will not need another one, thank goodness. He's getting really tired of vet visits!
