indoors Arrival Story: I lost my beloved Spooky, a four year old Persian, on the morning of Saturday, October 21st, 2007. That weekend was to be Spooky's debut at a cat show since I was going to show him and Percy, my other Persian rescue. But it wasn't meant to be. Little Spooky lost his battle with PKD that morning. As I didn't want to be alone and knew all my friends from the shelter that I volunteer with and other cat show friends would be at the show, Percy and I headed down.
At the show with the shelter was "Tana", a little exotic shorthair. I'd actually been the one to get her to Purrfect Pals. I'd seen her listed on craigslist.com as "free to good home" and convinced the owner to instead give her to us so she could find a suitable - and safe - home.
All during the show the volunteers were asking me if I was going to take "Tana" home. They knew of my fondness for flat-faced kitties and with just losing Spooky everyone really wanted her to go to me. The shelter had her competing as a Household Pet so she was in the ring with Percy. The second day of the show I half-heartedly agreed to take her as a foster. I just wasn't sure if she was sweet and friendly like Spooky had been. But I thought I'd give her a chance. Bio: Well it didn't take long for this little kitty to work her way into my heart. The first day at my home she jumped up on the futon next to me, meowed and started purring like mad and nudging me. She instantly became friends with Jake, my 100 lb Newf/Lab. Percy, my Persian, seemed smitten from the get go and would watch her from a short distance away. She'd give him a hiss but within a couple of days they were touching noses. And now, two weeks later, they're snoozing within a few feet of eachother on my bed. Where my name came from:: Mom wanted a name to go with "Percy" so she picked "Penny". "Pumpkin" came from the colour of my coat and the fact that she adopted me before Halloween. "Princess", well, because it sounded cute!
