Arrival Story:
One of my bosses found her in a trash can outside of his house when she was 2 months old. He knew that I had just lost my dad in a car accident a few weeks prior and that I'd probably need a kitten to cheer me up (and give Ember company). So I agreed to take her in but I was unsure about how I would feel and how Ember would handle it. At first, Ember wasn't too keen on the idea of a 'little sis' and hissed at Kansas, but eventually Kansas got bigger and Ember couldn't pick on her anymore. :) Now they have fun together and I occassionally find them napping together, though they won't admit it.

Bio:
She was named Kansas June Thomasina in honor of my dad. "Kansas" because my dad was living in Kansas City, Missouri (and it's a great band, too). "June" because my dad died in June 2003. "Thomasina" because my dad's middle name was Thomas. I wanted to name her Kearney since he really lived in Kearney, Missouri outside Kansas City, but my co-workers (see Flash and Silver in Austin, TX) said that was too Carney Wilson-ish. So Kansas came to be.
