In Shadow's shadow

Today Noel gave her grumbly little play growl that was always reserved for Shadow. She actually tried to play with Sunny the same way she and Shadow played! Sunny just sat there and swiped at her a couple of times but I was shocked she did that much. Usually she just stares you down and ya always know to back off when the ears go flat....ooch!!!
Shadow is soo missed, our animal dynamics have changed. I'm really excited to see Noel and Sunny playing, even just for a few minutes. It shows promise as Noel still looks for Shadow.

Shadow died suddenly and without warning. He didn't eat his can food Wed. night and then Thursday he seemed less active and had what I thought were hairball symptoms. My son told me to take him to the vet on Thursday and I said I would. Friday morning I checked him and he responded fine to me, eyes were clear, he seemed ok, just a little lethargic. Friday evening as we all were leaving to go to our son's game, my younger son put Shadow on the porch when he started to vomit. I got home a few minutes later and immediately tried to get him back in but he wasn't on the porch. We left and returned late to search with flashlights for Shadow, knowing when we returned and he wasn't waiting by the door, that something was wrong. I went to bed about 3 am. We had to leave for my other child's game that was out of town at 8 the next morning. When we woke up- no Shadow and I think I knew. My oldest son promised to look for him as soon as he got off work on Sat. He called us at about 2 pm saying he found Shadow over at the side of the house dead. We figure he died shortly after he was put out Friday Night.
I will never know what Shadow died of, he wasn't sick for long and I feel so responsible because I didn't take him in on Thursday. I miss him so much and wish I could go back and at least try to save him. I still am having difficulty dealing with this and as I have never owned a cat before or lost one, I have learned alot.

In Memory Of Shadow

Shadow passed away October 12, 2007. He is greatly missed and I just needed to do a tribute to him!
