In the house, but for how long??December 15th 2007 12:55 pm[ Leave A Comment ]
I’m not sure what happened to me last Thursday...I just remember coming to the back door, freezing cold, soaking wet, caked with mud, and with about twenty bloody cuts and scratches all over my body. Did I get into a fight with another cat? Did some vicious wild animal attack me and drag me through the mud? I don’t remember...I just know I got away somehow and found my way to the only safe place I know: My mommy’s house. She took me into an upstairs bedroom, cleansed my wounds with peroxide (Fortunately, all of the scrapes were superficial), and tried to wash the mud off with a warm washcloth. It felt so good to be inside a warm house and on a soft bed; I just fell asleep and stayed asleep all day. Mommy came in to check on me every now and then, and I vaguely remember purring and then falling back to sleep. I woke up feeling much better yesterday, ate some food, and even used the litterbox that Mommy had put in the bedroom. She was so proud of me!
I got fixed today!December 18th 2007 8:36 pm[ Leave A Comment ] Well, I think today may have been a turning point in my life! Early this morning, Mommy put me into a carrier and we drove about forty minutes down the hill. I couldn’t really see out the window, but I wasn’t scared because Mommy was next to me and talking to me. She was impressed with how well I rode in the car. But then when we got where we were going, it was something Mommy called “The Vet”, and I started howling terribly! It was just so scary...strange smells of other animals, and strange humans too. But before I knew it, I dozed off, and I think I slept most of the day. I was very happy when Mommy came back to pick me up. It was pouring down rain, but I didn’t mind because I felt nice and warm in Mommy’s car, and I slept most of the way home. Mommy says I was neutered and got my vaccinations. She also says the vet gave her some medicine for something called “ear mites”. I’m not sure what that is, but I do know that my ears feel cleaner and better than they have since I was a kitten! I don’t ever want to be a stray cat again. It’s nice to be back in my cozy bedroom, and I was especially happy to get dinner because Mommy didn’t feed me this morning. Mommy hasn’t said a word to Daddy about my operation...He knew she was taking me but Mommy has decided it’s best just not to discuss anything about me with him...at least for now. I’m being nice and quiet in my upstairs bedroom, enjoying the pretty mewsic on the radio that Mommy leaves on for me. Mommy has promised that when Daddy goes to work tomorrow, she’ll let me out of the bedroom for awhile to explore the rest of the house. ;-)

I'm IN THE HOUSE to stay!!!December 22nd 2007 10:09 am[ Leave A Comment ]
I just can’t believe it! What a difference a few days can make! Mommy hadn’t even mentioned my name to Daddy since she brought me inside the house nine days ago. She’s been very careful to keep me closed in the upstairs bedroom whenever Daddy was at home. Then this morning, Daddy said to Mommy, “Well, I guess you’ve adopted that cat, so there’s no point in keeping him closed in the upstairs bedroom any longer!” Mommy could not believe her ears, and she gave Daddy a big hug and told him that was the best Christmas present ever! When she broke the news to me, I was overjoyed! I must be the happiest cat in the world right now; I just can’t stop purring!
Daddy's Lap!!!January 2nd 2008 11:08 am[ Leave A Comment ] Last night was another turning point in my life as an indoor house cat. Mommy was carrying me over to the couch in the family room while Daddy was sitting in the recliner watching TV. He actually reached out to pet me! And then, something even more amazing happened: Mommy set me down in Daddy's lap, and he let me sit there and he kept on petting me and even gave me some scratches behind the ears! That went on for about a minute until Mommy made a comment about how cute it was, and then Daddy stopped petting me. But he can't fool me...I know he loves me! Is this the same Daddy who got mad at Mommy for bringing me inside the house just a few short weeks ago? I was pretty sure I'd grow on him, once he got to know me!
Flaca's ReprieveJanuary 16th 2008 4:33 pm[ Leave A Comment ] Last month, Daddy had told Mommy that we would have to find new homes for both Flaca and Skittles as a condition for letting me stay indoors. But last week, Daddy told Mommy, "I guess we'd better keep Flaca. She's gotten too sweet!" Mommy says that Flaca has ALWAYS been sweet, even though she is shy. So that was just Daddy's excuse for changing his mind, because deep down, he would really miss her if she left. Mommy is still trying to find a new furever home for Skittles...She's just not trying too terribly hard. A couple of people have called or emailed about her, but they didn't follow through. Skittles probably wouldn't care that much if she went somewhere else because she doesn't have much to do with anyone, or anycat. But Flaca would've been really sad to leave, so I'm happy that she doesn't have to find a new home on my account! Besides, that's one more kitty for me to tease...errr....play with!
Snow Day! and Contest Prizes!January 24th 2008 3:59 pm[ Leave A Comment ]
It snowed last night. We don't get much snow here in central California, so it was a treat for me! (I had never seen snow before, but Mommy and Daddy told me what it was. ) I haven't wanted to go outside much since I became an indoor cat; Every now and then, I'll step outside and look around, and then I think to myself: "Been there, done that!" and I just turn around and go back inside. But I just had to check out this strange white stuff! I had so much fun romping around...that is, until I started to feel cold; Then I headed back to the house. Mommy made a video of my snow day for my Catster page.
The V-E-T........and Greenies!January 31st 2008 4:26 pm[ Leave A Comment ]
Yesterday, Mom took me to the vet again. I wasn't very happy about the trip, but at least this one didn't take all day; I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. I needed my FeLV vaccine booster shot. (I was brave and didn't cry.) Mom also wanted the vet to look at my chin where I had gotten an abscess several months ago, before she adopted me. Even though the abscess is gone, the wound has never closed up completely and keeps draining. Mom was putting peroxide and Neosporin on it several times a day but it hasn't healed, so she thought the doctor had better take a look at it. He put me on antibiotics that Mom gives to me in a dropper twice a day. I'm not very happy about getting pink liquid squirted in my mouth, but it's always followed by a Greenie or two, so I guess it's worth it.

CURLY IS MISSING! PLEASE PURR!February 9th 2008 8:19 pm[ Leave A Comment ] This is Curly's mom. I am beside myself with worry! Today was the first warm sunny day we have had in weeks. Curly ran outside when I went to take out the trash. He was having a nice time in the sunshine, and I got my camera and took a few pictures of him playing in the yard. Then I picked him up and brought him back inside. Except for this morning and the brief supervised romp in the snow a couple of weeks ago, I have been keeping him strictly indoors since bringing him into the house nearly two months ago. It took a long time for all of his "battle scars" to heal, but he is looking so much better now and I do want to keep him safe and healthy. Around noon, I was cleaning litter boxes and had to make another trip outside. I opened the door for just a second, but Curly must have made a dash for the great outdoors, and I never even saw him run out! I missed him shortly after going back inside, as he usually follows me around through the house and jumps in my lap the minute I sit down anywhere. I have searched and searched, and he is definitely not closed in a closet or anywhere inside the house. I've called and looked outside numerous times, but there is no sign of him. I am worried sick! My husband, who actually admits that he has come to love Curly too, thinks that Curly is just enjoying being outside after being closed up indoors for two months, and that it's too soon to panic. But I can't help it... We live in the mountains where there are coyotes, bobcats, and mountain lions. I will be a basket case until he returns safe and sound. Please, fellow Catsters, purr for your friend....my sweet precious Curly. He needs to come home NOW!
