Arrival Story:
Macha and her litter mate, Black Elk, were strays living under my old house in New Orleans. When her mother couldn't take care of them anymore, I took them both in. They were barely 6 weeks old at the time. Surprisingly, her mother allowed us to take the kittens without a fuss.

Bio:
Macha was the name of a Celtic mother goddess. Though more of a grandmother now, she has earned the love and respect of all the other cats (most of whom she helped raise). She's sweet, passive, very nurturing, affectionate, and just a dignified old lady. She was diagnosed with both asthma and cardiomyopathy in 2001, and arthritis a year later. Though she has to be on daily medications for the rest of her life, she is doing well and still thriving. She continues life with grace and dignity; serving as a good example to us all.
