Crossing the Rainbow Bridge

This is Hope's Mommy writing: This is a very sad day for us. We had to help Hope cross the Rainbow Bridge today.
She had started limping about a month ago & then week before last, her left hind leg started swelling & she started losing weight. We took her to the vet & they said she had a broken leg but were not able to determine how it happened since she is an indoor cat & doesnt jump up on high things. They indicated the break was very unusual looking & took xrays of her legs & hips. It was determined she had bone cancer & they recommended several options - 1) leaving it as it was and letting nature takes it course (they were pretty sure the cancer had spread). 2) putting a pin in to try to get the bone to grow back. 3) amputation.
They recommended we try to get her strength up some before the surgery & put her on pain meds while we made the decision.
We decided to let the doctor do the surgery this week. They said she was in a lot of pain. We felt amputation was the best option.
We took her to the vet's office on Tuesday & her surgery was this morning. She had a tough time during surgery & they had to "save" her several times. Then about 3 hours ago, they called to say she wasnt doing well and had stopped breathing several times & they thought the end was near. They put her on IVs of heart meds & oxygen.
We went to tell her goodbye & stayed with her while she crossed the bridge. This is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. But she is no longer suffering & she had a good life with us. Her brothers & sisters love her so much. They are looking for her tonight.

Our sweet Butterball is running & jumping with her friends (I think of Pea & what a good friend she was to Hope). Bet they are having a good time together.
Please say a purrer for us tonight.

Hope & Pea - be sweet & take care of each other.

The first week of July marks the first anniversary of my rescue from the dumpster with my kittens. So much has happened in the past year.
I am healthy and very "fluffy". My papa has nicknamed me Butterball. He is so nice to me and I enjoy living with my family so much.
Granddaddy still has my kittens and he says they are really growing up. He has built a big outdoor cage for them and they play outside whenever they want. I am glad they have a good home too.
Wanted to update everyone on my progress and publically thank my wonderful family for all they do for me.
Well, time to eat and go to bed. More later.

Days of my life

Sorry I havent written in so long - but we are so busy. Napping, eating & playing. What a life!!!
Now that the weather is getting warmer we are able to have the windows open and we can talk to the birds and squirrels. When my parents are home, they leave the windows open all day & night and we take turns sitting in them and talking to the outside world. It is fun.
I have started sleeping with Mommy & Papa too. I crowd in there with Blue, Fred & Bo. We are cozy. On weekends, we take good naps together.
Papa has started brushing me because I am too "fluffy" (notice I didnt say "fat") to get my back cleaned good. It feels good, but I have to act like I dont like it, so sometimes I run from him.
I still love to eat and havent thrown up in a while. I try to limit myself so I dont eat too much at a time which makes me barf, which worries my Mommy, so I am trying to control my eating.
Well, time for bed. Gotta cuddle with my parents.
Will write more soon.

Sorry I havent written in a while. I am soooo busy.
I did want to give an update on my health. Mommy & Papa were worried about me because I have gained so much weight. Papa took me to the doctor yesterday and Dr Carter said I was just a "butterball" (I'm up to 16 lbs.) and nothing was physically wrong with me to cause the throwing up. He said I just eat too much and then "it has to go somewhere". I cant help it, the food is so good and I was so hungry when my Papa rescued me. Mommy has cut back on the amount of food she puts in our dishes, but we still get plenty.
Papa is going to take new pictures this weekend for my page so everybody can see how good I look.
Well, gotta go for now - time to eat and then take a nap on my Mommy's lap.

I am feeling so much better now. I dont throw up like I was. I threw up yesterday, but I think sometimes I just eat too much.
I have been chasing Fred's ball around some and I talk to the catnip socks. This is a fun house and I love my brothers and sisters.

Wanted to let you know I am feeling a lot better now. I still throw up some, but not like I was. I think I'm just nervous. And I was sooooo hungry when I came to live here, I cant stop eating now. The food is so good. My daddy says I will probably have to continue taking the Pepcid every day. I dont mind though, because he puts it in wet food, which I love. I'll keep you posted.

Short History since my rescue

I have been sick since my family rescued me. For the past two weeks, I have spent at least 3 days each week in the hospital. The first time I was dehydrated and had a urinary tract infection. I took antibotics and fluids through an IV. This past week I was in the hospital for 3 days and have a very serious infection and a fever. I have been on injectable antibotics and fluids through an IV.
I am home now and my mother and father are giving me high doses of antibotics and stomach medicine. I am feeling better but hope I can stop taking meds after this weekend.
