Being held too long
Favorite Nap Spot:
Chair in my aunt's room
Whatever is left in the other cats' bowls
Looks like a shark when he's about to attack another cat
When my aunt was visiting my mommy in NJ, they were online and found a picture of me in petfinder.com. Lucky for them I was in a local shelter. My aunt knew my mommy always wanted an all white cat and convinced my mommy to drive to the shelter and take a look at me. My mommy thought I was very beautiul, but said she needed to think about getting me as she already had four cats. It didn't take her long to think. Within a day, she called the shelter and begged them to hold me for her, that she would be back the following Saturday. Need I say more? I have a great home!
No one knows what happened to my tail. It is somewhat kinked, almost like it was broken at one time. The lady at the shelter said I was a stray and very hard to catch, so there isn't a lot of history. It doesn't bother me, so I guess it's ok.
Along comes Mr. Whitey

I'd like to thank everyone for their kind words and support. My sister was able to get one cat into the no-kill shelter from where she adopted him. The other three are going to a sanctuary that I found through some of the contacts Miss Hazel Mazel sent me. I'm thrilled to know none of them will be euthanized and my sister can continue her recovery without having to worry about the safety of her pets.
Catster is such a wonderful community with such wonderful, supportive people. Thank you, Catster, for choosing my diary as DDP not once, but twice. It really made a big difference in the amount of contacts I was able to make, but moreover, knowing that I didn't have to face this alone.

My name is Priscilla Wood and I live in Tampa, FL. My sister, Margaret, had a health issue about 10 days ago where paramedics found her unconscious in her apartment in Coatesville, PA. She underwent dialysis but is still very ill. She is currently rehabilitating at Brandywine Hall.
She has three cats who were taken to Chester County SPCA by animal control. She has been told that they're alive, but she is being charged $25 per day per cat for as long as they house them. She does not know her prognosis, and is unsure whether she'll eventually recover. She also cannot afford the fee to have them to released to her should she recover.
I would like to know if there's any way you can help. I have three cats of my own, and my landlord will not allow me to take anymore. My sister does not want them euthanized, nor does she feel comfortable leaving them at Chester County.
Please contact me via pawmail if you can give me any information about local, no-kill shelters that might be able to help.

Mommy thought it appropriate that she let her Castser family know what happened to me. Although I showed no symptoms of CRF, I stopped eating last week. When she took me to a vet last Saturday, he noticed my kidneys were small on x-ray. I weighed 11.0 lbs at that visit. Mommy took me back to the vet and had the vet run bloodwork on Thursday, 8/5/10. My weight at that visit was 10.09 lbs. My kidney values were extremely poor, as was my phosphorus. She was told that I needed to be hospitalized and put on IV fluids, but the prognosis was poor for recovery from this episode.
After careful, loving thought and consideration, mommy felt it best not to subject me to medical procedures that would make me suffer and be unhappy. It was very difficult for her, but she knew it was best for me. Please keep her and my brothers in your hearts.
She wanted me to post this poem here, as she knows there are so many others who've had this experience.
The Time Has Come
If it should be that I grow frail and weak.
and pain should keep me from my sleep,
then will you do what must be done?
For this, the last battle cannot be won.
You will be sad, I understand.
But don't let grief then stay your hand.
For on this day, more than the rest,
your love and friendship must stand the test.
We have had so many happy years.
What is to come can hold no fears.
You would not want me to suffer so.
When the time comes, please let me go..
Take me to where my needs they'll tend.
Only stay with me until the end.
And hold me firm and speak to me
until my eyes no longer can see.
I know in time you will agree
it is a kindness you do for me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
from pain and suffering I have been saved.
Don't grieve that it must be you
who has decided this thing to do.
We've been so close, we two, these years.
Don't let your heart hold anymore tears.
