Arrival Story:
Tahiti was spotted on Petfinder.com at a shelter not too far away. I was searching for a siamese to adopt but they seem to get adopted fairly quickly. I guess no one dared to venture into Newark, NJ to see him so I took it as a sign that he and I were meant to be! I couldn't find anyone to drive there with me so I found the nerve to do it myself. (It's not the best place to be caught alone!) From the first moment I saw him in his cage, I knew he was perfect. They let me pet him for a bit and he was such a cuddle bug purring away. I went back the next day (by myself again) and paid the adoption fee and brought him to his new home!

Bio:
5:30AM April 3rd 2009 I heard my baby get up t his morning and squeeze out the bedroom door with a thud. I got up to check on him as it sounded like it might have hurt! When I found him lying between the curtain and the glass door, his body was lifeless. My heart sank... as my worst fear had come to pass. Tragically, my handsome, sweet, adorable, loving cuddle bug died suddenly. From what I am unsure. He was just recently diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and started meds last week. After battling food allergies and another bout of not eating for two weeks, I was hopeful to have a real diagnosis and something I could do about it. I can only assume it was too little too late. I am beside myself right now and already miss my baby terrribly. He always brightened my day and showed his affection so readily. Getting up this morning without him waiting on the toilet seat for me to get out of the shower or his meowing fiercely for breakfast completely devastates me. He was like a child to me as his personality was that amazing! He was taken from me far too soon. While our times together was short, I do hope he is in a better place where he's healthy and happy. I will miss you so much Teeser Meeser!

Yesterday afternoon was very stressful. I had two accidents on the drive to my new home. Oops. It made for a bit of a mess as I got a little of it stuck on me so I reluctantly got a slight bath right away. Not the way I would have liked to start things off...

So my new home isn't as BIG as I thought it would be but it's comfy. My new owner lives by herself in a nice condo that has some really big trees outside. I hear the birds out there every morning but we're up on the third floor so I'm just going to sit here and watch. Chasing after them might be a bad idea! It's a long way down to the ground... But there are plenty of comfy places to sleep and even a nice spot for some afternoon sun. The food seems to be plenty tho my tummy isn't really up for any right now. I'm going to hide under the bed for a while and explore later when she isn't looking. She seems a really nice cat lady.

Dec 7, 2006 - I got adopted!!

After sitting in this crazy shelter for 3 months, I'm finally getting a new home! Phew! Yesterday I had a visit form a woman who saw me on the internet (petfinder.com) and drove all the way to Newark to see me in purrson. Lil 'ole me!!?? So I put on my best fuzzy face and turned on the purring. She loved me! I would have gone home right then and there but she didn't think adopting a kitty was as simple as that. Forms to fill out, donations to be made, etc. Not to mention preparations for me at home. I hope it's a cozy one with lots of places to sleep and watch birds all day. Though, I have to say that the idea of getting squished into a cat carrier and driving in a car again has me very anxious. I don't like either at all. I hope my new owner won't be upset if I have an 'accident'... or two.

Ouch! No one bothered to mention I had the get a couple of shots before I could leave this place!! I could have told them I wasn't rabid! I'm too adorable! And something about a microchip in case I get lost?? I'm a cat.. we DON'T get lost! We always know how to find our way back home.. that is if we really WANT to go back home. Besides, I don't have any front claws so why would I wander off where danger could lurk in the bushes and under porches. I'm a lover not a fighter! Well I guess it's the price I pay for checking outta this place. Wish me luck!
