Going Through THE CHANGE!

I'll make it short and sweet.
Back from the vet.

Would not come out of my carrier.
Hissed, mewed, cried, cowered, hissed some more.
I bit Dr. Reggie when he pulled me from the carrier. (He smiled and said how pretty I am.)

Checking for bladder infection.
May need more insulin.
Blood work to check liver, kidneys, etc.
NOT losing weight!

Since turning 12 years old earlier this year my body has been changing.
I used to go to the vet no more than twice a year. Already this year I've been 5 times. Now I know that's not a lot for many of you, but for me it's too many!
Will know a lot more tomorrow.

exhausted,
Hazel Lucy

Meowm says that my older brofur, Felix -- he's at the Bridge now -- pooed and peed on our vet every time she took him in. He never hissed. Never bit. He just liked to...relieve himself on our doc.

Meowm said our vet started a joke with her every time she brought him in: "That's $40 for the exam, and FIVE HUNDRED for the fecal and the urine!"

Purrs,
Coop

Feel better soon, HL, and I also turned 12 this year, let's hope I don't have so many vet visits. I have only had 2, so far this year.

That's too many times for me, too. I'm glad you're back home and hope you're doing better now. This should be a good evening to spend snuggling with your mom.

Purrrring for good results from your blood tests.

Why didn't they turn the carrier over and dump you out instead of letting you hiss and get all upset? You probably hung on and that wouldn't have worked either!

Mama went to her vet today and said she wished she could have hissed and bitten him too! She also said the change is hard so she sympathizes with you. Hang in there!

We know you have had a bad year Hazel Lucy. We sure hope next year will be much better for you. It sounds like you have a very kind and understanding vet. they have to drag all of us out of our carriers when we go to the vet. let me tell you we all go down fighting. hugs Anna

I feel your pain HL. I've always had health problems so my vet visits have always been frequent, but as I've gotten older, my reactions have gotten more severe. It stinks, there's no way around it.

And the getting older part? I feel ya there too. Getting older is the pits. Stuff just doesn't work the way it used to. At least it sounds like Dr. Reggie can overlook your fears and see the sweet girl we all see on a daily basis. Thank god for compassionate vets!!

Hang in there girl. Purring that things improve and your trips decrease!

Love,
Sally Maria

Oh HL! I'm so sowwy you are having troubles! I was just at the v*e*t a couple of days ago 'n it was horrible. I have problems that make it necessary for me to go more frequently than the average kitteh, so I can relate. My carrier is one of those two piece clam shell thingys held together wif something like little keys. When I get real stubborn about coming out of the carrier they jus' take it apart. *sigh*

I hope you feel better soon. I bees purring for you.

prrrrt 'n meow,
Ollie P
