It's that time of year. For many families, it is a time of heart ache, so many bridge crossings.
In the last few months we have welcomed many who have joined us. Sometimes it feels like
more of our friends are up here than on Earth. BUDDIE and I hope and purr that there will be
joy in your hearts also.
This is the first Christmas in 12 years that mom will not have me around. Not have me around to
sample her fabulous pot roast. Not have me around to eat the apple pie. Not have me around to
kiss and hug and love all over. Sometimes her face is leaky because her love for me spilled over
from her heart out into the world. She is grateful to have had those 12 years with me, and I am
grateful she tended to my every need with strength and a smile. Together we worked to improve
a small corner of the world. Together we shall be again someday!
Meanwhile, there's this big, long-legged, colorful beauty who lives with mom. You know of whom
I speak, Yep, MAZIE! The Mazel has been with mom almost 8 months. In that time she has come
to trust and love mom. It's a joy to watch her blossom. This is Mazie's first Christmas as an only
cat! I think she likes that!
Our wish is that there will be Peace and Joy in your hearts, and in your homes. That the frantic
rush to "do the holidays" will not keep you from remembering that it's not so much about "stuff"
as about love and family.
Buddie and I wish you all a Merry Christmas!
love,
Hazel Lucy
P.S. * Since mom and Mazie are moving next weekend, it's unlikely that most cards will go
out until after Christmas. Please purr that it will be easy to get Mazie from one apartment to
the other, about 12 feet down the hall. We may have to use a trap to transport her!

It can be both sad and joyful in catsterland. It can be bittersweet.
This is the Day In-Between.
Yesterday was the rainbow bridge anniversary of my furhusband BUDDIE.
Tomorrow is the anniversary of his sweet sister McKENNA going to the bridge.
They left for the bridge 2 days apart.
Gibbs and Cash came to fill their mom and dad's hearts with smiles and laughter.
I am with my Buddie in Heaven, all is well here, there is no pain or sickness or sorrow.
But the humans feel these emotions and they pierce the heart.
Buddie, McKenna and I are sending sunny beams of love to their folks. And we hope
that they think of the joy and not the tears.

Hazel Lucy

Please re-post and share with your Dogster pals and neighbors:
FDA Continues to Caution Dog Owners About Chicken Jerky Products (from China)
Included are chicken jerky products for dogs (also sold as chicken tenders, strips or treats)
may be associated with illness in dogs. In the last 12 months, FDA has seen an increase in
the number of complaints it received of dog illnesses associated with consumption of chicken
jerky products imported from China. These complaints have been reported to FDA by dog
owners and vets.

Last night the vet came by to give MAZIE the Convenia shot.
I'm not sure why they ask for a towel but they do. The guy with the humongous gloves grabs and
holds Mazie so that the vet can give her the injection. Then they depart the bathroom post haste!!!
Mazie sat in the tub a while, I guess she expected more to happen! It didn't. Soon she was in the
bedroom with mom like nothing happened. I can tell she is feeling much better!
As a precaution, mom bought Mazie a new litter box, liners and fresh litter. You know those cooties
can go from the litter box into the body and make a UTI. Disinfect!

Hooray for MAZIE!!!
She ate all her food last night, used the litterbox and ate more this morning!
Mom thinks the CRANIMALS have something to do with it. Still, the vet will
stop by tomorrow to give her a shot of Convenia.
Thanks for your purrs and suggestions and rosettes and gifts, much appreciated!

Oh dear!
The MAZIE is feeling real low today, she's hiding. No food, no water, no nothing.
Mom can pet her and say comforting things but Mazie's tummy must feel awful.
The vet will come soon and give her the shot of Convenia to help the UTI go away.
Mazie isn't barfing so that's good. She is sleeping mostly.
We're watching over her and know soon she'll be fine.
love,
Hazel Lucy
