Arrival Story:
Leon came to me three years ago. My niece told me of a house where alot of cats were living. I went over to check it out and discovered a hoarder's house. There were 48 cats living there and the conditions were so utterly disgusting that the owner didn't even sleep there. No running water, no litter boxes. Leon was the first cat I saw. Sad eyes and paint all over his tail. With the help of many generous and loving volunteers we went into that house in hazmat suits, trash bags, buckets and bleach. For a month we cleaned out the house, seperated the males and females so they would stop reproducing, and eventually got a spay/neuter mobile unit to come out and fix all 48 cats.
After Leon was fixed, I put him in my car while he was still under anestesia and took him to his new forever home. Out of my four "children" he is the most loveable and appreciative of his life. He knows his name and sleeps in the crook of my left arm every night. When he first came home with me my fiance at the time insisted I "get rid of him". On three occasions I had found him a new home and then the plans fell apart.
HE WAS MEANT TO BE
Because of Leon I am an active volunteer for a local shelter and help to run an Adoption Center at a local PetSmart
Whenever I am down or sad, this cat somehow gives meaning to my life and the strength to go on. All of this from a homeless cat who lived a horrible life until came into my world!
