Arrival Story:
Found in Woodinville as a stray in mid-October 2000, Sheba was taken to the PAWS shelter in Lynnwood for medical care and by Nov. 4 was at their Cat City adoption center. We had stopped by on our way to lunch, and my then-husband fell in love with her. They let her out of her cage, and soon she was trotting about their reception area, followed by a smitten orange tabby, and not at all fazed by all the people milling around. Before I knew it, my husband was filling out the adoption papers. Her name at PAWS was "Angel" but we immediately changed it to Sheba, since she thinks she's the queen of everything.

Bio:
Sheba is deaf, a condition not uncommon in white cats. Her first year with us was tough for everyone, as she was very envious of the other cats' ability to frolic outdoors. We soon moved to a quiet, dead-end street, and now she gets to go outside during the day if we go out with her to supervise. She seems to feel this is an adequate opportunity to eat grass, chase squirrels, and climb on the neighbor's roof. The few dogs and cats who've been aggressive with Sheba lived to regret it. Sheba also wears an electronic receiver; we carry a transmitter and when we press it her receiver beeps and flashes to let us (and any cats she might be stalking) know where she is. To our surprise, Sheba really got into playing "foster mom" to Kaylee and Zoe. They run her ragged, and taught her how to play nicely with others.
